I'd love to know all the items you have purchased that have been wasted on your dogs. I'll start!
When we got Indiana from the SPCA we had to buy a collar and lead but there were no greyhound collars available. He slipped his collar and chewed through the lead within a week. Not having come across GAL yet, we bought a harness but Indiana being a sensitive soul, it rubbed his fur. At the Christmas fair we got properly kitted out - yay!
Indiana's daddy went to London and bought a Harrod's coat for him (it wasn't a greyhound coat so didn't cover his bum.) Again, cue GAL for saving the day and he's now beautifully kitted out in a hunter green coat with snood!
We went to the Scottish exhibition fair and were led like lambs to the slaughter into believing that a 'Fatboy' doggy bed would be ideal. Indiana promptly chewed the Fatboy label (who can blame him?) and then refused to lie on it (again I can't blame him, it was far from comfy). A duvet saved the day!
We spent a fortune before we found the perfect food, we spent a fortune on toys that were ripped apart within seconds, we spent a fortune on cleaning products for the floor before GAL recommended vinegar... who could survive without the advice given here????????????
Needless to say, our GAL dog, Tigerlily, has benefitted from this experience!
..... two lovely donut beds that don't wash successfully. they are now in the shed awaiting transport to the local tip. back to duvets !
food.... finding the right stuff that they liked and didn't go straight thru - finally found some really cheap greyhound kibble that is perfect for them all.
lots of toys that they don't play with and some nice fluffy toys that the boys tear apart - have sewn up pink piggy loads of times because that's Daisy's favourite!
two cheap coats that didn't fit properly and are no longer worn. ordered proper ones from a nice lady up north (note to self: must get one for Tom).
Plastic dog bed that Wills rarely used - passed on to brother but his dog didn't use it either - passed on to Gran's dog but he doesn't use it either.
Jackets for Wills & Millie that kept unfastening and falling off (usually in the most inconvenient places where we had to slog through ankle deep mud or crawl under low branches to retrieve them).
Toys that last approximately 30 seconds. Like you Teresa, I've sewn up umpteen cuddly toys that the dogs seem to favour.
Millie has at least 5 collars - why when she only needs one?
Several dog beds from the market for £3 each but all have to be chucked out as dont fit in the washing machine.
Tried loads of foods - bought several cheap foods to see if they would do, but didnt agree with dogs so ended up getting chucked out - waste of money.
I had 3 plastic beds which i bought ages ago then when i moved house chucked them out, now looking to buy more as Eva and Toby like them!
The mongrels have had loads and loads of collars and leads over the years, they are never on leads so they sit wasted. Only buy them coz they look pretty!
But i love them so much so they are worth it

I have been really lucky (or very sneaky!!)...before Neo arrived i had trawled just about every topic on the forum and everyone's experiences probably saved me a fortune in mistakes
Started with duvets instead of dog beds, got proper coats from sites other people had used and the same with collars etc although they do have a lot more than they actually need!! The only one who has really lost out is my wee boy, i've lost count of how many of his cuddly toys that have been shredded in seconds.
I have got loads of collars, so much so i had to buy a wall hanging storage bucket thing from Ikea to put them in, and i've just bought another 2 off kitsch collars. I am such a mug!
