This post is just a bit of fun. I thought I would throw down the challenge to find the dog with the worst racing name as I think my poor Sunny wins.
You know when people meet your grey for the first time and ask "did she race? What was her racing name?" Well I love the look on peoples faces when i tell them, they just go "oh!"
But before I tell you what her racing name is can I just tell you Sunnys dad was the very successful Staplers Jo (nice name)
Her half brother is the very famous father to millions .....Larkhill Jo ( Another nice name)
So why oh why oh why did they call poor Sunny
LEADED WINDOWS
Anyone got a racing name to beat that? What were they thinking.

Ho ho!!! I'm not laughing at poor wee Sunny, honest!! That really is a shocker of a name.
Pearly was "Bunch of Pearls", which isn't too bad. Harry was "Almanzora". Being named after a popular Spanish holiday resort doesn't really fit with his proud masculinity.....
Oh poor Sunny.Mason was Baby Sham which was quite nice but I came across his brother on another rescue site and he was called "Wee Katie", I mean who calls a boy that!
Tilly (Sunny's "niece") was called "Mojo Lark", as her Dad (along with countless others as previously mentioned) was Larkhill Jo. Not a bad name, but doesn't really suit a girly girl!
Rosie's grandad's mum (if that makes sense!) was called Leggy Waitress But then further back (quite a lot further back) there's a male called Movealong Santa Swanky Jog was another one amongst Short O'Dough, So Ashamed and Out of the Dumps
Landess, I've had a think of all the GAL dog's we've rehomed and I think by far 'Leaded Windows' takes the biscuit in the bizarre naming stakes. I do like the strange mysterious names, this little girl just came on the books today and I love her name...
Jamie was called Kiotari Flyer. Keera was Wandering In which is exactly what she did in her 3 races...came in 5th in all 3!!! She is such a lazy girl as she hates going too far on a walk and kinda drags herself home!!

Poor Sunny. I bet he'll want to keep that quiet! Angus wasn't registered with a racing name but his Dad was called Lakeview Rodney and his Mum was Triple Cross.
Some more bad names... When I was looking up Tigerlily's racing background I discovered she raced against a couple of dogs called (wait for it) - Big Spade and Duffle Coat

I quite like the name Duffle Coat.
Not sure about Big Spade

Bovril's Name was Gasoline Alley very aptly named as he can clear a room in 10 secs flat cant remember who his parents are but going to look it up again. Will edit post later. Denise. His Pa was Quarrymount Scot and HIs Ma was Twin Spires.
I have just gotten my Greyhound and his racing name was Climpy Jet. Poor thing but we shortened it and he's now just called Jet. Not that he knows that name yet either!
Daz's situation is a bit odd. He was first registered as "Cheers" Then he was bought by the Shanty Town Syndicate and they re-registered his name as "Shanty Daz" He's listed under both names on the greyhound database but only his "Shanty Daz" page is complete with a picture, tattoos and the message that he has been rehomed by GAL. From reading about other hounds' names it seems unusual that a current pet name is derived from a racing name. He doesn't seem to have raced as Cheers. He only raced four times officially (plus some trials) and was winning open races in 29 second times (very fast). I wish I knew why he didn't go on with his career in Ireland, seems odd for a fast dog winning opens? He came over here and raced on flapper tracks till he retired with a leg injury. He's my best ever dog yet the chance of our paths crossing must actually have been slimmer than winning the lottery! It must be fate.
Blue's name was taken from his racing name "Drumcrow Blue" It did seem that he recognised Blue but having thought about it he was that desperate for food and a loving home I think he would have answered to potato! I too love the name Duffle coat!
Millie's name was "Tappernail Queen" which suits her as she likes to treated like royalty! Willow's name was "Crackers Store" which suits him as he is just a wee cracker
