Poor Angus hurt himself the other day. He was out walking with my friend and, believe it or not, he fell off the kerb. He has now got stitches in his front and back leg and some wee small puncture wound type things (probably from gravel) all over his legs.
This picture was taken on thursday night but since then he's has a dressing change and a dressing added. We never noticed before, but he also has some skin missing from his tail. Initially i thought it the marks on his tail were just dirt and started to clean it off,but it turned out to be another wound, so that is now all bandaged up as well. He's a poor wee soul and feeling very sorry for himself ( and i'm sure a bit embarrased) although it certainly hasn't put him off his chicken! He'll just need to stop those afternoon drinking sessions.
Poor Angus is not having much luck, but apart from the bandages, I think he looks quite well, , hope Jenna is being nice to him, and he gets his bandages off soon.
I know Teresa, it quite shocking how much damage can be done with a simple 'trip up'. The kerb really isn't that high, but because Angus already has problems with his back legs ( he's got a nerve deterioration thing that alsations normally get) he can't seem to right himself just a quick as most other dogs. Onve again its goes to prove just how much damage can be done in a blink of an eye.
Just a wee update on Angus. He got his stitches out today and he has healed beautifully. He's not one for bothering with wounds too much so its healed nice and dry.
Unfortunaltey he has lost a bit more weight, so back into the vets on the 26th for more blood tests!
Thanks to all for the support regarding Angus. He got his blood test taken this morning without any drama and the results should hopefully be back before wednesday, however, he has lost a lot of weight. Since wednesday he has lost 0.7 kilo which the vet is not happy about and until the results come back I've to try and feed him wet dog food only as he sometimes leaves his dry food. So more waiting......
Got Angus' results today. His thyroid is slightly higher and is now within the acceptable range, although still a bit low. His calcium is also low but within the limits , So some good news. His weight has to be monitored for another week and taken from there.
Yyvonne, Let's hope his thyroid stays at normal levels now. Poor soul falling off the kerb! I know our Chad once tripped up one after staring very hard at a cat on the other side of the road, so I guess they are all clumsy at times. Give his ears a ruffle from us, Em and Chad xx
