Thinking caps on folks....

A friend of mine has just become a first time Mum to a lovely little 2 year old collie cross who was found as a stray. She had been getting called Sheba but doesn't really respond to it and my friend just called asking for suggestions for a name for her as she wants to change it...

We thought it would be nice if she linked it to Valentine's day as she picked her up today and i thought of Valentine, Cupid or arrow...

Anyone have any better ideas??? Don't think any of mine were that great

Juliet?  Darcy?  Lizzy?  Emma?  Romantic heroines.

Good luck!

Alexis, it's a pity there wasn't a prize for the best suggestion..you would have won. After many, MANY, e-mails back and forward the only name she liked straight away was one of yours. So Sheba has now become "emma" and although i have only seen photo's so far (meeting the wee girl tomorrow) i have to say she looks like she will suit the name...

And as for my very fussy friend...i hope she never gets another dog or the poor thing will have to remain nameless

I've never known a doggy Emma.  How posh!

We havent half moved on from Rex and Rover these days, so many dogs have human names.  It must be cos we see them more as family nowadays, not just pets.

I met her today Alexis and i have to say Emma does really suit her and she is a wee cutie, needs some work on training and basic commands but her tail didn't stop wagging and she seems to want to please her new mum, bless her

Think we will see quite a lot of her as she got on great with Neo and they both had a great time chasing each other all over my friends lovely back garden (which she has just realised will not stay lovely for long!!)

Emma is my eldest daughter name and I am sure she will love the thought that collie has her name, there are certainly not many Emma,s about and a name that will stick in my head. Collies suit short names as they respond better to them, that comes from my husband who has kept collies for 20 years. Nora

I didn't know that Nora but i'm sure my pal will be chuffed she went for a short name then. We had a collie in the family when i was only a baby so i don't remember him much, his name was Moss and i think there has been a Moss in the family ever since
