That is a wonderful story. It makes such a change to see an article that is a happy ending for Greyhounds. You see so many sad stories - like the Dalkeith one and the Durham one.
Awww, what a moving story. Reminds me so much of my Jack. He was a hopeless racer too. Didn't want to chase wee furry things. He in fact did not finish a race before he was sent to a rescue. He is just so gentle with the cats and gets all upset if his cuddly toys squeak. He thinks he is hurting them and drops them immediately. Bless him! Marian.
Oh Gail, what a softie he really is! He is covered in huge scars, apparently old bites from his kenneling days. He was very much bullied by other dogs because of his very soft nature. He is extremely nervous of other dogs. If I play with him and pretend to squeal his legs turn to jelly and he starts to quiver all over and his whole body shakes!!! What a pushover, poor boy!! I will have to be very very careful about any dog I get to buddy up with him in the future. It turns out that, this is why he is so good with the cats, frightened to hurt anything!!!
A lovely article, just the sort of publicity which is needed! My first hound was a successful racer, but within months he used to lie around with my daughters rabbit jumping over him, and all the kids in the area used to come and cuddle him, he was so gentle.
