Our wee guinea pig passed away last night, she was nine and a half. I'd had her since she was a baby (actually watched her being born!), got her and her sister (who died 2years ago) from a neighbour when their pigs had babies. On Friday night her back legs went, took her to the vet on sat morning and it seems her kidneys were inflamed. Brought her home with pain relief but she deteriorated and finally passed last night (while we were eating our tea!). She was a fiesty wee thing and her and Sally had a mutual fascination for each other. She'll be missed very much. Sleep tight Kung.xxx
Sorry to hear about Kung. I'm amazed by her age though, I thought ours was old at 3 yrs, so have been resisting getting him a companion after his rabbit pal died, maybe need to rethink that now. Best wishes, Fiona
Thank you all. She might actually have been eight and a half, I can't quite remember what year she was born!!! Terrible I know. But either way she was a ripe old age (although apparently in the wild they live a bit longer). We'll miss her, she was great.
poor Kung, sorry to hear your news. I have to admit i didn't realise they lived so long either. You must have been so attached to her after having her all that time and i'm sure you will miss her wee squeaks.
Sorry to hear about Kung. There will be a small but sorely noticed hole in your lives for a while. Sally will need to find another form of amusement. Wee soul, sleep tight.
Sorry to hear about Kung. I have owned about 25+ guinea pigs altogether, they make lovely pets and have such funny wee characters. I let a couple of my pigs have litters many years ago and having the babies from birth is fab, the bond I had with them was unbelievable.
8 1/2 is a good age for a pet GP, and you will obviously miss her terribly.
Sleep tight Kung x

Jacqueline, So sorry to hear about Kung. I had no idea that Guinea Pigs were so long lived either. It must have been very sad for you all and I am sure you will all miss her terribly.
As she did live for such a long time and was obviously very old in GP years perhaps you will all comfort yourselves with the thought that you must have given her very good care!
Sorry to hear about Kung. We had a guinea-pig, Horace, who lived until he was about 8 years old. I now have 2 girlie guineas, Meg and Daisy. Also have a gerbil, Scamp, who's brother Jig died a few months ago.
So sorry to hear about Kung. It's always hard to lose any pet, I know how heartbroken I feel when I lose any of my rats, they just creep right into your heart, don't they!
