Hi Dave and folks, may I make a suggestion and get peoples thoughts on it please. My wife Helen and I live next to Balloch Country and have one lurcher and two greys of our own, along with Prince a GAL foster dog. Since neither Helen nor I drive and we dont have access to a car to run our 4 dogs into Glasgow for the Monthly walks, even the train can stressful. Could I ask what people in our area would say to starting a walk around Balloch Country Park? If you go the whole walk it is around two miles, there are also variations of the walk with some beautiful side paths and such. The summer is coming and the park can be beautiful as you walk along the Loch side. I'd be intrested to see what folk who are local to this think of this. Even if its not possible to orgnise a regular event, if any walkers want to sample the Park for a change please contact me via the forum. Thank You.
I would be interested along with Biscuit. I'm in Cumbernauld but can drive via Kilsyth to Balloch, which I'm happy to do in the interests of a good walk with like minded folks and dogs. Can the dogs get off lead?
Hi Valerie Yes if your dog is OK off the lead normally during walks then thats fine. I usually let Dylan off, then Kiera, then in our own wee section Millie can be let off too. For dogs that need to be on the lead the park is still scattered with varied walking parts. It would be great if a few can come.
Hi Lindsay & Helen, Balloch sounds like a nice place for a walk, we cant however hold an 'official' GAL walk there without the appropriate organisation, that means a committee member present, appropriate permissions granted, insurance updated, risk assessments done, appropriate 'GAL' rules followed (like dogs on lead and muzzled)..blah blah..Happy for you guys to use the forum to organise your walk using the PM function but to ''advertise'' on here sort of makes it look like an officially sanctioned walk which does have bigger implications for GAL. If you want to drop me an email or PM me I can discuss further..
Dave I am sorry if my post has touched a sensitive spot, but as I started the message making a suggestion to get peoples thoughts on it that was why I posted the notice. It was to get feedback from folks without having to send private messages to everyone and not to start any "official" organised walks. I hope this clears up my intention.
I am okay for an unofficial walk in Balloch considering that weather permitting we tend to spend at least one day at the weekend around Aberfoyle? Love to all Eleanorxxxxxx

Balloch would also be closer for my happy little gang! I will get to Strathclyde Park one of these days but I would be interested in official or unofficial walks in Balloch.
