..........with Lenny's teeth! Poor boy had 11 teeth removed on Wednesday. It was meant to be 4 but they got carried away. He's had reasonable teeth for an ex racer but his gums weren't doing so well. Although white they were slack so had to go. As well as brushing he went for a proper scale and polish every year. He's still got most of his back teeth so will still be able to chew his beloved pigs ears. He has had both top canines removed and all the little incisors inbetween. Gone is his flashy smile! Still got bottom canine and only two incisors have been taken away from there. He's still feeling a little sorry for himself. He ate a pile of chicken that night and has ate every normal meal since. He's pretty quick too, just a fraction slower than he was. He's never missed a meal in the seven years I've had him and he certainly isn't going to let no teeth stop him now! Once his gums harden he'll be much better.
Myrtle sends Lenny a smile which sounds very similar to his!! She had a similar event just before Christmas (no more top canines, still has the bottom ones, so some shape remains, has about 7 or 8 teeth left in total, none of them actually matching up top to bottom), but still manages to eat, steal, threaten the cat, and other sundry events which make an elderly greyhound's life worthwhile!! In other words, not too traumatic for her.
Hope Lenny's mouth feels better soon! But it sounds as if he's adapting pretty well to losing so many teeth and managing to hoover up his dinner. Give him a big hug from me, Vegas and Dixie!
