Acting strangely
Permalink Closed

Recently Jet has been acting a bit strangely and i'm wondering if it's something to be concerned about.

Basically we have had him for about 6-7 weeks now and apart from a bit of weeing when we first got him he's been fab but in the last week he's been weeing on the floor and more annoyingly - our bed!! (little bu**er).

He also seems to be a bit more fearful than normal, he's always been a bit scared of the roads and non greyhound shaped dogs but now sometiimes he'll stop dead and refuse to move in apparently non-related circumstances. So discounting my boyfriends idea that he sees dead people, have you any idea why this might be developing?

We have felt there might be a few reasons, he is still a full male dog (though he better enjoy it whilst he can as it is not for much longer!!) and we wondered if they went in heat like female dogs as we know one or two females that are in heat at the moment. Also we thought he might be chancing his luck as he settles in more but it doesn't really explain why he won't budge on walks.

Do you think there is anything to worry about here?

I would get in touch with Souixse about this one as it could be various things that are causing the problems. I am sure it is fixable and he will settle down again. Sorry I cannnot offer any advice. Nora

Hi there, the peeing on the bed was the same problem we had with our collie pup. Try and supervise him as much as possible when he has to be in the bedroom, or close the door and not let him in. This sounds like obvious advice but you'll find that there isn't much else that can be done as a lot of dogs seem to just like peeing on beds hmm.
At the time, it wasn't much help when people told us that he'd grow out of it... the thing is, he did!
Persevere and I'm sure you're dog will do too.
Good Luck.

Could be a number of things but best contact Viv the behaviourist so that you know exactly what you are dealing with.

Sometimes dogs pee for attention/insecurity and sometimes due to dominance.

Funny things dogs.
