No ban. I can never understand animal "lovers" who do not seek veterinary help at the first sign of something being wrong. I hope the RSPCA keep a very keen eye on the rest of his animals.

No ban - the mind just boggles!! 'complex case' ? There's nothing complex about the fact that Tanty was in a disgraceful condition of neglect irrespective of how well his other animals were. Its sickening to see someone getting off with this. If he thought his dog had cancer, did it not strike him that she would have needed vet attention for pain relief if nothing else? My Whitley had cancer and lost a lot of weight quickly, but even at death, was not in anything like such an emaciated state.

The mind certainly does boggle - how can this man who has obviously completely neglected this dog just walk away with a meagre fine and be allowed to keep his other animals?!!  The fact that the dog has now put on weight shows that there was no medical reason for the weight loss and that the other dogs where fine makes you wonder what was going on in this mans head.  And saying that he though the dog had cancer - why on earth did he not take the dog to the vet?!!!!  When Eeyore had cancer he did loose a little bit of weight but even the day he died he looked nowhere near as emaciate as that poor dog.  There's no excuse for this and I just wish the courts had more power to prevent cases like this happening.  Really hope the other animals in his care don't end up suffering like Tanty did and that she enjoys a very happy life in her new home.

That is dreadful. Made so much worse that the owner was an experienced dog owner and so can't use ignorance as an excuse.

It's very difficult to understand why someone who proclaims to be an experienced? animal owner could allow his dog to suffer like that, probably only for the sake of saving a few quid on veterinary fees. I hope the RSPCA keep a close eye on him and his other animals and take them away at the first sign of neglect!

There is no justice when it comes to animal cruelty.
People rip off multimillion pound companies for a few quid and get years in jail.
Yet you starve and neglect a living being with a soul and spirit and get off free.
I just don't understand.

Jenny, you are right there, but then again that's the old money thing, you can't rip off shareholders, and corporations, but when it comes to sick behaviour towards animals, seems anything goes.

This is a disgrace.  I can't understand how anyone could treat an animal in this way!    Even if, as this eejit claims, the dog did suddenly start losing weight for no apparent reason, there is no excuse for not seeking a vet's opinion.

I'm glad the dog has been rehomed and will, hopefully, live out a long and happy life.  I only hope being left in such condition hasn't caused some longterm damage to internal organs!
