Thought I would post this great shot of Mason taken by a photographer friend of mine. He may be contemplating losing his last hope of freedom after blowing it at our local park last night. The park is the only enclosed place he can get off the lead in Edinburgh because it is completely railed with a heavy iron gate at one end and a small gate at the top. Last night Mason demonstrated his Houdini abilities by prying open the heavy iron gates and slipping out in a flash I cannot describe the horror as he headed towards busy Leith Walk at a gallop. Thankfully he decided to go into a pub instead and was standing with a couple who were sitting enjoying a pint by the time I caught up Never, ever, ever, ever again will he be off the lead anywhere in the city, even if it is a walled fortress. My heart can't take it...
Marie, What a nightmare... I had to laugh though that he went into a pub! Wise Mason! Maybe you will get your confidence back after a while or take a friend with you - you can both then guard different possible escape routes (and two catchers is better than one should disaster strike!) Phew I know the feelings exactly... beating heart, utter panic and tears afterwards! Love to you both Em and Chad xx
What a fantastic photograph he looks amazing you would never think with that butter would not melt in my mouth look that he was capable of such things as escaping, what a little Minx. They sure know how to get your blood pumping. Tell Mason mine is a bacardi and coke. LOL Nora

Bookies and the pub! I'm starting to think Mason is a true Leither. You're welcome to bring him out to my place, but even if he escaped from the biggest of fields, he would have to run a long way to get a pint and I know I could never keep up with him, even on horseback! Anne
terrific photo - next time he pops down the pub, mine's a vodka & tonic!! you must be giving him too much pocket money if he goes to the boozer on his own !!
seriously tho, I can imagine your panic at losing him - pleased to hear it all ended well, xx
What a brilliant photo of Mason! It captures the mean and moody look so much! I really admire his ability to escape from almost anywhere - but I know how panicky you must have been!
What a naughty boy for his mummy Mason is, and no mistake! You poor thing, Marie. I hope you had a quick sup of that couple's pint to steady your nerves when you caught up with your big boy.
Beautiful portrait of Mason. Hope that you have got over the fright of his adventure. Eleanor and Flash(not unknown for his having given us a few stomach churning experiences in the past)xxxxxx

I may take you up on that Anne, although last time we were on Irvine beach Mason was beside himself with excitement when he heard two horses coming up the sand. He was desperate to run with them - or possibly at them - and threw a right paddy when I wouldn't let him.
I'm not sure if he may have trained beside horses in his younger days but he certainly was raring to go.
Some dogs just love to run with the horses, my old dog raced them at every opportunity, in the field or when I was out riding. I suppose the herd and pack instincts are very similar. This could explain the captive wolf in Albania refusing to eat the donkey he was given, he would rather go hungry and have someone in his gang. I'm on call this weekend, but it would be great to see Mason going flat out round the fields some time, just as long as he doesn't go looking for a pub.
What a handsome dog Mason is...and guessing from the way that he posed for these glorious pics? I think that he knows that he is a head turner. Eleanorxxxxxx

Oh he doesn't half know it Eleanor. He's a terrible attention seeker with a bad case of "look at me!" syndrome. The daycare staff say every time a new person walks in Mason is right in there demanding attention and praise. Marie
He's a looker, and in super condition. Can't imagine the vet will say anything other than he's in great condition when he goes for his weigh-in - no fat I can see!!

Mason weighed in at 34.4kg at the vets on Friday. I've checked his racing stats and five of his nine victories were recorded with his weight at 34kg, he even came in second in a race in 2003 weighing 34.5kg. So Mason says to his critics Marie
