Hi, sorry if this is a stupid question but has the format of the forum changed. When I have posted before it went straight up but now it disappears to be checked by the administrator? Just wondered
Firstly, you didn't answer my question, what is the reason for this delay? I'm going to assume it's so that you have chance to intercept any posts that you deem not suitable, and as such will have to approve all posts.
My objections are this:
The forum used to be about members helping each other with their concerns. You may not get the authorative answer, but you'd at least get some support. When Blue had been with us only a short time, this was invaluble. Any forum on the internet lives or dies by it's "feel" and community spirit.
I'm assuming you will not be manning the forum 24 hours a day. If, like you suggest, there are other forums which do this (not that I've come across any), they probably have many moderators spanning many time zones, so that at least there is some speed of response, to maintain the feel of the forum.
Also, if every post has to be approved, what is to stop an over zealous moderator from editing anything which they find objectionable. Obviously personal attacks, liableous and offensive material need to be removed, but I have yet to see more than one or two very isolated occurences of this on the GAL forum.
As you may have noticed, I haven't posted much in the last year, as, in my opinion, an element of fun has left the forum, but changes like these will likely make an enormous number of members do the same.
The forum and the chat room were the reason Amanda and I got involved in GAL, Blue didn't come to us through GAL, but we were welcomed by the members. I suspect the forum is the reason a lot of people became part of the community. It is imperitive for the charity that GAL doesn't loose it's friendly feel and good will, which changes such as these will not help in the least. In fact these changes will make it feel like school.
Treat us like adults, give us our forum back. I am copying this message to the forum, I hope it gets through the censorship.

This is something that we are trying at present with the forum being a public forum and not just a members forum. Many other public forums use this facility.Do you have any objections or thoughts on this and any feedback would be appreciated.

Soiuxsie,
May I ask the reason why forum changes have caused a delay in posting and replying to threads? In particular, what is the reason for the delay? I would have asked via the forum, but the post has been removed.

We were testing this facility on the forum and this only happened for a short time, great that you were on the ball and able to give your opinion so rapidly.
We are sorry that you felt the GAL forum has not been much fun in the past year, hopefully our new members of the forum in that time have not felt this. And it is good to see you posting again.
If you have any further issues with the way things are on the forum, please don't hesitate to let us know.
I apologise that this short test seemed to anger you in such a way.
