Poor Indiana was out chasing a deer this evening and somehow managed to get a very nasty gash on his leg right on the joint.  We've to be up at 8.30am to get some surgerycry.  Added to that, his new dog walker got him a new orange tag and today the vet had a choice of either green or pink bandages.  He now looks like a Celtic supporter.  His dad is having a fit as he firmly supports Partick Thistle!
Let's hope things go okay tomorrowblankstare

That's a terrible affliction - hubby supporting Partick Thistle! Seriously though, hope Indiana gets on OK at the vet tomorrow. Fingers crossed! Let us know how he gets on!

How does poor Indiana manage to leave the house without a balaclava?  Partick Thistle indeed!  confused

Just kidding - I don't like football in the slightest!  Poor boy - hope his leg heals soon and he can go back to being totally inoffensive with his colours!  wink

Poor Indiana   its horrible when they hurt themselves like that but from experience with Dylan these wounds when treated right heal very quickly. Our thoughts are with him as the goes to the Vets and we will wait to see how he gets on. As for football colours here is Dylan during last years World Cup  he has his colours firmly pinned to the mast Forza Italia!!

Hi

Poor Indiana!  Hope his leg is not too sore after his op!
It's always a laugh cosing the bandage colours at the vet. The red ones look very dramatic. One has to be careful with the green and blue ones lol.
Hope he heals fast.

As you can see, Indiana is now sporting Partick Thistle colours.  He's on the phone as we speak to Trinny and Suzanna, getting recommendations for the colour of his balaclava...biggrin

The stitching went well and Indiana seems perfectly energetic as usual.  He's just miserable at not getting out for a run.
Loved the photo of Dylan and thanks for all the good wishes x

Great to see Indiana is getting better! I know how difficult it is to keep a dog from running around when they should be resting, so you have mega sympathy from me. Hope Trinny and Susannah can fix it for him to have a match of balaclava for his bandage!

Poor Indiana, I could lend him my Celtic scarf. I'm too scared to put it on Mason round my way in case I have to call his namebiggrin
Hope Indiana is back to normal soon.

The things people do to their dogs!  My three have all had their turns.  The only one of the photos I can find is this one.

Poor Tigger (not forgetting Wills & Millie who have also had this indignity heaped on them) - imagine having to support a team called "The Black Cats"!!!

This was done so she could join Wills and Millie on the wall of fame (or should that be shame) in OH's son's room.  hmm

P.S.  Sorry if this turns out to be sideways - stupid thing wouldn't stay rotated in photobucket!

LOL! Poor Tigger - he's faced up to the indignity very bravely, I'd say!

Quick update on Indiana - his wound is not healing very well mainly because I can't get the bandage off him. I tried on Fri but he started pulling at the stitches. I then went to the vet and got one of those plastic collars but either his nose or his leg is too long. He managed to get himself into a position where he could get at his leg and it is bleeding again. Any hints on how to stop this would be appreciated! He's supposed to get stitches out on Tuesday but I have my doubts...

Poor Indiana.  We had a similar problem with Millie after she was neutered.  We tried the collar but she went mental with it on and was at risk of hurting herself more with it on.  We tried all sorts and her stitches were delayed coming out in the end.  Tigger's nose was also too long for the collar and she was able to get at stitches when she had them.  We watched her like a hawk all the time and, at night, tried the collar and hoped she'd leave them alone.  It's a nightmare!  hmm

Wish I had a useful suggestion (muzzle didn't work too well because they discovered they could get their tongues through the gaps).  Could you put a sock over them and tape it up when you can't watch all the time?  confused  Mine chewed the tape off and pulled off the sock but you could give it a try.

What a nightmare!! Thank goodness Ive never had this problem as my dog got sub-cuticular stiches when they got neutered. However I know many people have experienced a simlar problem. Rocky (a greyhound) would not leave his dressing alone when he cut his leg. It got to the point that the dressings were causing more harm than good eg constantly wet from saliva and causing sores!! They found that a mitzi boot from pets at home sprayed with bitter apple spray helped for a few days more to enable the wound to heal and the stiches could come out, they left the boot on a few days more and it healed up beautifully!
I suppose anything is worth a try surely?

Thanks for all the advice. I'll def give the boot and spray a go. Indiana did manage to get his stitches out today but the rest of his leg is in a nasty mess with his gnawing. The vet described it as like a very nasty graze on a child's knee. Hopefully, with the stitches out he'll not bother and so far that seems to be the case, but then he did get a pain relief injection so we'll see when that wears out how he reacts. He's to go back for a change of bandage on Thursday and a check on Saturday. Paws crossed it will be healed as I'm off on holiday on the Sun. Sisters take over then and I don't know how chuffed they'll be if there's numerous trips to the vets involved!

How's Indiana doing now?

Thanks for asking. Sisters did have to do the trips to the vets while I was away! However, the bandage is off and it's healing beautifully now that air is able to get at it. He is to have a final check on Wednesday. I'm now at the point where I don't think I'll let either of them run without padding on their legs! Everytime I go to the vets there seem to be greyhounds with leg injuries. They're obviously just prone to it being so skinny.
