Here is another horror story, but in Ayrshire. The full story is on the Flappersdream website, please take a look although it will break your heart.A couple in Dalrymple heard a dog screaming on Saturday night around 12. The chap went to look and found a Greyhound that had been thrown down an embankment and had hit a tree and had horrific injuries. The vet was called and it was discovered that the poor dog had been shot in the temple with an airgun before either falling or being thrown over.Lorna the vet put him out of his misery. It has been discovered through his ear marks who he was, where he raced and fortunately, who was racing him.The police have been informed and are hopefully investigating. The Daily Mail will be running a piece tomorrow. The NGRC have also been informed and are going to investigate further-let us hope for some good news at the end of this. What is awful about this is that the dog had been offered for sale on the Greyhound Data classifieds last week and if the vermin who bought him is the vermin who killed him-what chance have us volunteers or anyone who is trying to do better for the Greyhounds got if this is the type of owner on the loose-it is diabolical. The heading on the site is "Do you like these pictures".Kindest regards,Maureen.
It just makes me so upset to hear stories like this. If I could get hold of the person responsible I'd fire an airgun at their head and other areas besides.
The heading for the story on the Flappersdream website about the dying Greyhound found in Ayrshire is "Do you like these pictures"? Hope this is of help. Regards,Maureen.
This is shocking. I am so upset hearing about this poor animal. It is not so far from my neck of the woods in Ayrshire. Hope they get the scumbags. Marian.
what a thoroughly depressing website, particularly the dogs wanted section, you can really see the importance place on the greyhounds wanted e.g 'Greyhound wanted, must be cheap'!
Yes I know Louise, I am originally from Glasgow and have been in Ayrshire for 10 years now. There are many nice decent people in Ayrshire, but unfortunately too many ned's. Sometimes, it's the way it goes in these old mining villages A lot of these wee villages thrived on the dog racing, but however, many often neglected and mistreated their dogs. Scum of the earth. Marian.
I work in prestwick, and apparently another greyhound's been found. This one was half decomposed. Found in same area seemingly. Hopefully the idiots who do this kinda thing are stupid enough to leave clues as o who they are.
Poor doggy - it didnt' deserve that fate (neither did the other one)! Whatever these scumbags get (assuming they get them) won't be what they truly deserve.

I couldn't agree more. I plucked up the courage to have a look and what I saw disturbed me greatly. The ads looking for dogs for "a bit of fun" and that it didn't matter how they did worries me - what happens when the "fun" wears off and the bills still come in? Where do the dogs end up then? I'd like to think that they'd become pets - here's hoping anyway.
The pictures were truly shocking and heartbreaking. Life seems to be way too cheap as far as greys are concerned - certainly on there!
It never fails to shock me that people are capable of being so cruel. Poor dogs - they suffered so much. I hope whoever is responsible gets what's coming to him - in spades!
Isn't it a bit suspicious, though, that the man who apparently sold the dog, was banned from racing his dogs in Ayr recently?
When you see it costs nothing to place a 'Free Advert' it is very easy for some scum to place an add, then tell the police they sold the dog. This leaves them free to dispose of the dog any way they please, and I'm sure they take pleasure in the dosposal of the dog, just as much as they enjoyed it's suffering while it was in their 'care' I hope the courts see them for the sick individuals that they are, and treat them accordingly. (Fat chance !)
I have actually been having a good look at the flappersdream website. I was very curious and wanted to get into the "Nitty Gritty" of the site. To be able to get into certain areas of the site I had to register. I am pleasantly surprised. The majority of the people on the site are furious and want to kill the B******, that did this to poor "Jamiedan Flyer" It makes really interesting reading. The site is not all bad. Some decent folk on there. They seem to tolerate "greygirl", which is Carol Scott of Greyhound Rescue Scotland and they know full well who she is. They seem to be on her side and agree with her stance on Greyhound welfare. Marian.
