Bailey needs a special home
Permalink Closed

Hi all we have a new dog listed on the web pages.

Baileys is a sad story. He is currently living with a family but they have reached the stage that they no longer feel capable of keeping him. They took him on three years ago having had their previous Greyhound pass away. They were told that Bailey was a bit skittish but was generally a good dog. Since taking him on they have found that he has a very severe separation anxiety and could not be left in the house at for any length of time without destroying it.

His current family have worked hard with him and even got him another greyhound companion but his condition has not improved. They have tried several of the standard techniques such as leaving the room for 5 minutes and then returning but with little success. They are now at the stage of having a very young child and about to move house. They feel that the house move could make him even worse. Recently Bailey has reached the stage where he will harm himself in his attempts to escape. The only time that Bailey seems to feel secure being left is when he is in a large group of dogs and he is very friendly with other dogs so this could be a solution.

Bailey will need a very special home with someone who is around almost all of the time. Or who has a large number of dogs as this also makes him feel more comfortable. His new family will need to put in the time to work on his separation anxiety. He is a lovely boy and desperately needs someone to look after him.
