On the last weekend in August Dunoon becomes a logistical nightmare. It's Cowal Games and for three days there are piping, dancing and other competitions going on in the stadium. On the Saturday getting about it slow going (nigh on impossible). This year I decided to take Tigger to see what she made of it all.
I was especially impressed at how she coped with all the noise and bustle - pipebands in particular. She was brilliant. She had a lovely walk along the main street, behaved impeccably in the stadium and made lots of new friends. She even posed nicely for her photo to be taken and videoed by a lovely couple who are living in Swansea. Hopefully her behaviour will have impressed people enough to make them consider greyhounds as pets. I think the highlight of her day was meeting people - she was desperate to speak to everyone.
It was great to meet you at last, after chatting online so often!
As I think I said at the time, I've often considered taking one of our lot to the Games (my son's in the Grammar school pipe band, so they're used to bagpipes), but they all have differing problems in relation to people (and in Cookie's case other dogs!)! Not a good advert for greyhounds, unfortunately (unless you visit us at home!).
Did you see the big fellas (Deerhounds?) in the stadium? They were a couple of absolute stormers! So placid and well behaved (though not so sweet as Tigger!). I'm sure they were bigger than Cruachan III!
Ah well, time for Dunoon to go back to sleep for the rest of the year (thank goodness!)
It was really nice to meet you too. It's always great to put faces to names. I did see the deerhounds and they were well impressive. Absolutely huge!!! Tigger was nearly the size of Cruachan (who is a Shetland Pony and mascot of the Argylls) so he looked tiny beside them!
It is a bit of a relief to get the town back. Driving is so much easier now that it's all over and done with.
It would be nice to meet up again before next August.
