toby and the west highland way

hi there ,toby our rescue from the planet suite 4 1/2 years ago, was walking the second part of the west highland way yesterday and loving every minute of it, snacks included, when nearly finished at a car park he was set about by a yellow lab and an alsation. the whole thing was awful as the owners made no attempt to control their dogs and call them off, toby was really traumatised and has a nasty gash down his back leg. we were all totally shocked and only sorry that we never got the number of their volvo estate or they would have had avisit from the police. anyway just to make you vigilant when out walking, toby wont be hurt again as we will have big stick with us in future.

Hope toby is ok, it's awful when something like this happens,and it makes me so mad when peple who own the same breeds as I do G.S.D's,Greys,etc.,allow this sort of thing to happen then don't apologise or take any responsibility for the actions of their pets,we aren,t all like that in the shepherd fraternity thank god, hope this won,t spoil your walkies together in future.

How terrible, hope Toby is OK. It is awful that the owners did nothing to stop their dogs and say they were sorry, unreal.furious Nora

Poor Toby, it sounds like a terrible experience for you. I have had one or two scrapes myself in the past. A stick may be useful or you could try my trick of carrying a water pistol in your pocket! A quick squirt usually does the trick and you are not causing any real pain to the other peoples dog - so they cannot really do much.
