Hola me llamo Purdy, yo soy un Podenco Andaluz y yo vivo actualmente en un refugio del rescate en Almeria, España, Cuando consigo mi pasaporte de animal favorito que viviré en Edimburgo
The beautiful little girl above is Purdy, she is a rough coated Podenco Andaluz and when she gets her pet passport hopefully around about March, she will be coming home to live with us. She is currently in a rescue shelter PAWS-PATAS, in Almeria, Spain, she is not yet 2 years old and has spent the first half of her life as a stray and so far the second half waiting for her forever home, we found her when we were surfing some dog websites, following links from one to another when we saw a site called Ibizan Hound Rescue, thought it looked interesting, clicked the link and the minute we saw Purdy, we knew she would be coming home to live with us, it's like fate intervened, as it has with all of our Hounds.
Isn't she just gorgeous. We're so excited about getting her, it's going to be a long winter, waiting on Purdy coming in the Spring.

She is just gorgeous, after reading about the Spanish greyhounds in desperate need it is a little light in the dark. Well done Katie, you are a very special person to rescue all the way from Spain. I hope Winter passes quickly can't wait to hear how you get on when she arrives.
Wow - isnt she's gorgeous! What a lucky girl to have been found by you guys. It will be March soon and you will have your girl - will be soooo exciting waiting for her.
Purdy is stunning, congratulations,I'm sure she will love all the attention she is going to get when you get her home. It's hard when there are so many animals needing help, but we all have to do what we can either in a practical or financial way.thanks to you she has a fantastic chance to forget the nightmare that was her old life and know what it's like to be safe happy and loved.
What a wee beauty!! Well done you guys. If only there were more people around like you, that way there wouldnt be so many abused and neglegted animals in the world. Roll on spring.
Everyone has been so kind in their comments about precious Purdy, we are extremely lucky to have found her, she is absolutely gorgeous.
Giving a dog their forever home is the final link in a long chain, if it wasn't for the dedication of the staff, the volunteers, the fosterers, the fund raisers, the donations given, getting the dogs through the pet passport scheme, not just at PAWS-PATASPurdy), GAL(Lulu), SSPCA (Dust), EDCH (Sally) but rescue centres everywhere, then who knows where all of our wonderful Hounds would be right now.
A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO YOU ALL.
It's your dedication and commitment that makes it all possible.

So great to see Purdy getting the recognition she deserves. AT LAST! This poor girl has been in our shelter for almost 1 year. She is a lovely dog and it is so satisfying to know that she is going to a real "hound home". Valerie - PAWS/PATAS Shelter Manager
Hi Valerie, Purdy is lovely and it's great to see another hound get a home, well done to everyone at your shelter for helping needy dogs abroad, please post more about the work you do and the animals you care for,we're always interested in folks and their animals big or small. Rachel.
At the PAWS shelter we get all types of dogs - young and old, small and large. We are located in the countryside and, therefore, there are lots of hunters round about and we invariabley get lots of hunting dogs - pointers, breton spaniels, greyhounds and lots and lots of Podencos. Hunting dogs are the lowest of the low in Spain and Podencos tend to be bottom of that pile. We get many of them at our shelter and they are very difficult to home over here. No way can we home them to Spanish hunters and the English are afraid that hunters will steal them from their garden. To give the Podencos more chance we decided to prepare them with UK passports. To date we have rehomed 6 in England and have another 3 with homes to go to as soon as their documents are in order. They are a fab. breed. I grew up with whippets in England and really fell for this breed when I moved to Spain 20 years ago.
