Poor Dev was just settling in his new foster home when he decided to slip his collar early this morning and go for a stroll into town!! Dev was last seen about 11am in George Square - unfortunately without his collar and coat!!
We have contacted the police, SSPCA, PSDA and all local pet hospitals for a missing black greyhound!! Also the local glasow taxis' have put out a bulltin for all their city taxi's to keep an eye out for him!
Jacqui, Kevin and I along with his foster parents searched most of the city and outlying areas for him and we will keep everyone updated as we hear. Hopefully some sweet person has taken him in and we will hear soon...
PLEASE KEEP HIM IN YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS... THANKS, LINDA
Hope Dev is found safe soon, his poor fosterers must be so upset, hope some nice lady finds him,I know how shy he can be, maybe he will go to a lady rather than a man,or somebody with another dog or food!!fingers crossed for all concerned.
Thanks everyone for the prayers - keep them coming. Today starts the 5th day of his runner and we still have no sightings or calls. His disappearance is going to be in the paper today so hopefully some lovely person has been caring for him and will contact us.
As always as soon as we hear anything - we will post the news!!
May we hear about him soon and may he be returned soon!!!
We had a call from the advert in the paper stating that a black greyhound had been spotted in Sighthill Cemetry and Sighthill Park on Wednesday. It appears that someone actually fed the dog in the cemetry.
Myself, Iluska, Andy and his foster mum Debs all made our way over there as soon as we got the call yesterday afternoon - unfortunately we did not manage to find him. His foster mum went back late last night again to see if she could spot him, again there was no sign of him. Iluska made the park wardens aware and also put signs up in Tesco and Costco.
Myself and Linda headed out this morning at 6am, while it was quiet, with food, a torch and tinkerbell! We searched a huge area spanning the cemetry, the park and the area in between, again no sign.
We are hoping that we get another sighting of him to confirm that he is still in the area and Linda and I are going to head back again tomorrow morning in the hope that he is out looking for food first thing.
So if you know anyone in the sighthill area please ask them to keep an extra eye out for this dog - we are really hoping it is Dev, it makes sense since this is not far from where he was lost.
Here's hoping it is Dev,good idea going out early when it's quiet with him being shy,and good it's ladies looking for him as he's not as keen on men,if I can be of any help let me know, the more familiar voices he hears maybe he will come out.Lets hope he can't resist Tinkerbells charms.
Hi, No sign of Dev during my trips in and out of city centre. Day and night. He could be close but one might never see him All of the back lanes etc. Thats probably where he'd find sanctury. Fortunately there is a lot of waste food on the streets in the ealy hours so he should find food. A more recent sighting is key so the searck can be refined.
As it is now 7 days since Dev has wandered off and still no closer to finding him. Like Charles has said - it is such a vast area that we could be on one street and he the next one over!! I hope that with the article in the newspaper that we may get another sighting and then be able to start looking again. My fear is he has moved on to other areas for food & shelter!
So everyone keep the prayers up - be positive and if anyone hears anything - no matter how trivial please contact any GAL committee member or Rachel so we can move quickly!
Thanks and I'm off to the can collection - hope we have another sucessful event!!
Hi everyone,am I the only one who cannot stop thinking about poor Dev in this freezing weather? I was watching my own gang of four all tuckes up by the heaters last night and was near tears thinking about him in the cold, and hungry, too. Has there been any newa or sightings of him at all since the other night? He may have found a lovely person who has taken him in and not seen the ad in the Times,at least I hope to God he has. Fingers and everything else still crossed. Kindest regards,Maureen.
No I am thinking about Dev all the time too. He couldn't have picked a worse time of the year to wander off. I keep looking at the forum to see if there has been any news.

me too, I've txted a few folks i know in Glasgow to keep an eye out. The longer there's no news the worse the outlook seems to be, i just really hope some one has taken him in or in the very least he's befriended one of Glasgows homeless people who'll see him through the festive period and keep each other warm. I'm still living in hope
i think we're all just waiting on news, GOOD news about Dev, was thinking about him this morning when i was out with Rowen, it is sooooooooo cold outside now and it'll only get worse, really want to hear that Dev is safe and sound back home x
Talk about so many sleepless nights in seattle ( does anyone know of the movie with Meg Ryan?) At any rate I'm pretty well exhausted right now with lack of sleep and worry! Hence the possible ramble at the beginning here!
If anyone is interested there is a great article in tonight's paper - The Evening Times on Dev so let's hope that someone has seen the dog and will call!!
Keeping my eyes & ears open as well as lots of prayers for Dev!!
We saw the article in the Times and hopefully it will help find the poor wee boy. The photo is lovely and very clear and if anyone has seen the paper and then sees the dog, surely they would recognise him now? And yes-I do know that film and I know how you feel,Linda! My hubby read your post and said since I've known about Dev we've been Sleepless in the Southside.Fingers and everything still crossed,Maureen.
Some info to bring you up to date with the search for Dev.
Volunteers are contacting the police, the cleansing dept, the dog wardens and the SSPCA Animal Welfare Centre's on almost a daily basis, 17 seperate vets, the Vet School and the PDSA have all been faxed information and a poster with a pic of Dev to display in their surgeries.
A sympathetic member of staff at the Royal Mail has notified all the delivery offices asking for posties to keep a look out for him. TOA taxis are also very kindly keeping their eyes peeled while out and about.
Thanks to the excellent article in the Evening Times a number of calls were received yesterday evening.
All of the people who called were questioned very closely and the most recent sighting was from a man who saw Dev in Sighthill Cemetry on Saturday afternoon (15th Dec).
James kindly agreed to meet Jacqui today to show her exactly where Dev was seen. She has taken Annie her wee greyhound girl along with her and copious amounts of smelly food in the hope that Dev will be enticed by one or the other and show himself.
We will flood the area with posters of Dev to alert all the local people to contact GAL if they see him.
It is hoped that we can organise enough volunteers to visit the area on a daily basis and if you are able to help please email or PM Jacqui and she will give you more details.
I usually love the cold, bright, frosty weather but just now I am desperate to see the end of it. I only hope Dev has found somewhere to stay warm until we have him safe again.
HI hope DEV is found soon Also have spoke to my Glasgow depots of RAC and all of the mobile engineers are looking out for him when they are mobile and will contact me if they see anything
No news yet,I'm going to do an overnight search hopefully,Dev knows me well and possibly Linda will come with me ,Kathleen and I are going to go out Saturday, she knows the area really well,Dev knows her from her dog visits to the kennels. Please anybody that can help or if you see anything please contact Linda, Jacqui, Denise myself or any other members of the committee,or anybody that knows we are looking for him, police rescues etc.vets.With schools and colleges closed for xmas it will be quieter, good as Dev is nervous, less people to see him though, and less food smells around so I hope he's in an area where he can rummage for food, and doesn't move away looking for food and water, and it worries me that he might drink water with Anti- Freeze in it ,so lets keep everything x-ed and hope for a result that would be the best xmas present ever!!.
