Nearly two weeks since the operation and only four to go till she is allowed a bit more exercise. The stitches from the op were taken out at the start of the week and the vet is still pleased with her progress. There is evidence of a small amount of infection in the end of the wound and her glands on the leg are a bit swollen again an infection indicator so we have been given some more antibiotics for her to take. The mobility of the joint is good and we are now allowed to walk her a little bit further as long as we keep it steady.
The painkillers are now finished and she is not looking like she needs more and will put a little weight on the leg when walking slowly for a bit before she resumes hopping. She is also quite happy to use the leg to scratch her neck.
She is still a bit bored and upset at the lack of going places but not as bad as I expected. We have taken her out in the car at the weekend so that she had a bit of a change of scenery. This weekend we are going visiting so again she should get to see lots of people which should keep her happy.
Zak is a bit upset at the whole experience and is still not sure why Tara is not herself. I think that it hasn't helped that both Graham and I have had stinking colds this week and have not been that looking forward to walks much either. Though I think that he does like the walks where he gets Graham and myself all to himself.
Great to know that she is slowly but surely getting better. I don't know what your vet advises but for my Lulu it was a 4 month recovery period. For the latter part of that period I was able to walk her using an extendable lead which certainly helped relieve her boredom.
So pleased to hear that Tara is improving, she looks so forlorn in that picture, lets hope it's not too long before we see her in action at the beach again
