It has been a bad week generally (in fact for one reason or another it has been bloody awful) but it just got worse when I got all our blood test results back from the lab. Annabel has both Leishmania and tick fever. The tick fever is treatable with antibiotics but the Leishmania will stick with her for life. She shows no symptoms of the disease and now that she is being looked after I don't think that it will be a problem for her. However whether or not the orthopaedic surgeon will now feel she could withstand surgery on her legs is another question. Also, it means that Annabel cannot be rehomed out of Spain. Disabled and with Leishmania........looks ever more likely I am going to have a new addition to my pack!
Thats such bad news, as if she didn't have it hard enough, on the lighter side I sometimes think that things are meant to be and perhaps she is meant to be an addition to your pack, let's hope that the surgeon can still do the operation, I know its stressful and Leish dogs need to be kept away from stress but perhaps with good sedation and some complimentary therapies it may be possible.

ROLL ON MARCH
So sorry to hear of Annabels problems, as Katie says sometimes things have just meant to be and perhaps staying with you and living out a happy life would not be so bad for her. All the very best whatever happens. Can Leishmania be passed on to Corky through birth. Nora

Poor Annabel, I'm sure she will be happy to stay in your pack and I hope her legs don't cause her too much trouble It's just as well she is a real fighter.
