Never mind the children, my son bought it for me for Christmas and I loved it (caution, a box of tissues required at certain points!).

Thought the section with the girl, Becky, done well, as it was probably about as realistic as you could hope to get away with in a children's book. Michael Morpurgo has done a really good thing for the Greyhound cause in writing this. Wonder if it's stocked in school libraries? As he's the former Children's Laureate there might be a good chance that it is.
