What a dog Woody is! He is approaching 14 months old and last year after just weeks with his new family the wee soul breaks a leg :(This healed well and he runs faster than his sibling Bunny). Yesterday (Friday 18th Apr) he and Bunny met and started playing with another greyhound in Balloch park. It was quite near the gates to the park and I think the boisterousness of the pups frightened the other grey a little bit and it ran away through the gates! onto the road! and the Bunny and Woody followed! and I had the horror to watch Woody be hit by a car and quite literally bounced about 10 feet. Remarkably Woody got up as if nothing had happened and apart from a limp and some cuts and grazes he seemed OK. safety first so off to the vets for a check up and after a thorough examination he was given the all clear :) We were given some painkiller liquid to give him to soothe the aches and pains he will be feeling. From now on they will be kept to thier "safer" walk at the other end of the park away from any vehicles. After a sleepy night Woody is up and about fully alert and an appetite like ten greyhounds. A bit stiff but hes fine. But no passing any bloody or any bad breathing. Lesson learned for me. Just a footnote the driver of the car never stopped, he slowed to look but drove on.
You're kidding? The driver didn't even stop? That's appalling.
Thank goodness Woody is okay. He sounds like he's a cat in a greyhound body. How many lives has he got left?! I bet you're still in shock though even if Woody is right as rain.
Its not only shocking, I'm sure its illegal - you should have taken his licence plate Woody's a very lucky boy, I'm so glad he's okay. It must have been awful to see. Marie
I can actually visualize the whole thing as it happened to me. I was driving down the road and a cat shot out from under a parked car. I felt it and then stopped immediately. The cat had taken off so quickly I couldn't see where it went or its condition. Luckily there were a few people who were walking by and told me which house the cat belonged to. I knocked on the door and told them all about it. They couldn't find their cat. Luckily I stopped back the next day and the cat had come home - with an injured leg which the vet said would be fine.
I couldn't sleep until I knew what happened so I can't believe a person would drive off after seeing the dog go flying!
I am just so relieved to hear Woody is fine and that you are too! Hope he stays healthy too!
