Gough, who left a greyhound in agony after shooting a bolt through it's skull and then cutting off it's ears, has been banned from keeping animals for life and been sent to jail for 6 months. He's appealing!
Funnily enough I was just saying to Esther that perhaps we should pilot a scheme where the punishment for animal cruelty fits the crime.
I wonder how folk that keep dogs cold, lonely and hungry in a dark shed would like to be locked in unheated solitary cofinement with no food for a good while. We could let them out when every bone is visible - some will be forgotten forever and we won't be able to save all of those that are found.....Some idiot would only set up a rescue organisation!
Thank goodness Gough has been given a substantive sentence! Ideally he should have been sentenced to the tender care of Glenda or any other members of GAL who feel the same way! Hopefully the strength of feeling by the public will sway the judges to block his appeal! He's got some nerve appealing anyway! He didn't give the dog a chance, so why should the judges give him a lesser sentence?
It is absolutely unbearable to think that the method of disposal used by Gough is not a one off, but a regular 'cheap' and gruesome occurance around race tracks (as I read on a website article). I am only glad that animal welfare protestors were at the court when Gough was sentenced.
