ScottishSPCA sponsored walk in May
Permalink Closed

Hi

There's an opportunity for good PR and fundraising for GAL at the ScottishSPCA sponsored walk at Bellahouston Park, Glasgow on Sunday, May 25.

A stall could also be set up there for GAL. There's an entry fee for every walker and dog, with this going to the ScottishSPCA and the rest going to your sponsored charity.

There's three distances you can walk, the main ones being six miles or twelve miles, throughout the parks in the southside.

Check out the ScottishSPCA website for more details: scottishspca.co.uk

Latecomers can also sign up for the walk on the day, and there's a prize for the best fancydress if you wanna add some extra fun to it! Happy walking - get those kenneled dogs out for the day...

Hi Rene

Could you find out if we would be able to have a stall at the event.

It certainly would be good to get the dogs along to this one. But not sure if SPCA would agree to GAL raising funds.

Joyce - Am awaiting a call back from Precilla of Great Scottish Walks 020 897 71378, regarding the stall enquiry, in the meantime check out info about the sponsored walk on www.greatscottishwalks.com

It turns out the SSPCA don't get any money. I got that wrong. The entry fee goes towards the cost of marshalling the event, the rest to the charity of your choice, so yes, you can walk for GAL if you want to do the sponsored walk, don't know about costs for stall yet...but should soon.

Joyce - we're too late to be added as a stall at the sponsored walk in Bellahouston, Great Scottish Walks have already submitted their stalls list to the council.....cry.gif

Sounds like a good idea, you might need permission about taking buckets though, best check out the organisers first and Joyce. Check out their website on the sponsored walk in glasgow. there's walks all over the country.......see www.greatscottishwalks.com smile.gif

Hi
I am back home now. I know that weekend I will be away in Dunoon at a 70th birthday party.

Have not so far had time to look at the website Rene refers to. But I know that it would be very unlike any organised event to allow collecting of any kind without permission/authorisation.

If you don't mind Rene, can you make further investigations and see if a presence is possible?

I think that this one is a non starter, but remember GAL has it's very own sponsored walk in Strathclyde Park. Check out the events diary. Sponsor forms will of course be available for everyone. So there is a chance for you all to get involved and raise some cash for the dogs.

Love you new avatar Rene. Your dog is beautiful.

Joyce

hi everyone

we're welcome to bring homeless dogs along to bellahouston park to see off the walkers on the sponsored walk. so anyone who wants to bring a dog or two out from the kennels will be welcome to come along to it. just remember your GAL t-shirt and doggy doo bags.....lol.....

the day starts early in the morning and there's a timetable of events on the website, so please check it out, as it will answer all the questions you have. wwwgreatscottishwalk.com

any latecomers wanting to do the sponsored walk, for whatever charity they chose, can still get an application form or sign up on the day at bellahouston park, cardonald.

any dogs walking with the sponsored walkers have the same entry fee as the walkers however. there's money off for any affiliated charities.

i'll be taking a GAL dog so I can still hand out business cards and try and drum up interest in our homeless dogs and about GAL but I'll be doing the sponsored walk for Scottishspca, as I've raised nothing for them this year so far, just volunteered at events, so I have to make up for that and it was the staff that told me about this walk. but anyone can walk for GAL with me, if anyone wants to keep me company. there's a variety of lengths of walks you can choose from.......and they're all round the city's beautiful parks in the southside.

any questions that the website doesn't answer, just phone the registration line on 0131 273 3019 - they're very helpful and friendly - and if there's any further enquiries required on behalf of GAL, contact Priscilla on 0208 977 1378.

hope to see some of you there.......
