TRAVEL SICKNESS
Permalink Closed

Hi

I have a 18 month old Whippet. She gets very travel sick, even on short journeys. I never feed her for hours before we travel. I have tried Stugeron travel sickness tabs but they make her drowsy and she was still a bit sick. I also tried Ginger Capsules as i was told they may help but they didn`t. She is not afraid of the car, she just lies down and throws up! I show this wee dog so it would be nice for her if she could travel well. I would be very grateful for any advice.

Many thanks,  Sharon.

I've noticed that children are more likely to be travel sick if they are bored or can't see out of the window.  Perhaps, you could get a harness and allow your dog to sit on the front seat where he can see what's going on?

Apparently a lot of doggy travel sickness is down to stress, you could try getting one of the DAP sprays and giving your boot a quick spray before taking her out. I'm also assuming that you don't drive so fast that she spends the whole journey with her claws dug into the dashboard and squealing like a cheerleader. If I'm wrong though, slow down a bit as well.
