Loads of you have admired Happy Harry on the GAL website. Well, Steve and I - and Pearly, or couse! - are very pleased to tell you all that we will be picking him up this afternoon. Eeek!!! We met him and his foster family, Carol and Bill, and he and Pearly seemed to hit it off. He's as bonnie in real life as he is in his piccies. Except much, much bigger - he looks like a wee tot in his piccie but he's a BIG boy. Look at him compared to Pearly:
Anyway, wish us all luck this weekend. Here's hoping that Harry settles in well and stays "Happy".
Hi, Amanda - yup, we're keeping the name Harry cos it's FAB! For both 2 and 4-leggedy wee poppets.
Most likely we'll have a mad rush of foatie taking and will be gleefully showing them off to everyone and boring folk silly in no time. No doubt you'll meet him up close very soon!
Would love to meet him sometime when he is settled. And, of course, pearly again Harry(my son) was quite taken with her! Happy Harry is wonderful and Harry (my son) did ask if we could have him. Think it might have been a bit confusing! Hard enough writting this
He looks as though he could give Blue a run for his money as I remember Pearly wasn't that much smaller than Blue so Harry must be HUGE.
What a super picture of Pearly and Harry - don't they look great together? I met Harry at the last Strathclyde Park walk - he's a lovely big chap! All the best to the four of you - hope Harry settles in well. What does Pearly think of her new boyfriend?
That's Harry in his new home with us here at the seaside - not that he's sure what to make of the sea yet! Bless him.
I felt quite emotional as we took him away from Carol and Bill's. They've been wonderful with him and he seemed so happy and settled - I felt like we were taking him away from his family! Anyway, would you believe that as soon as we opened up the back of the car he hopped in and was lying down for a nap before we'd even turned onto the main road. Wee star that he is.
We got home and took Dave's advice about going for a walk and meeting up with Pearly. She was really happy to see him, all waggy-tailed and kissy-kissy. He seemed pleased to see her, but not quite as demonstratively. When we got back to the house we all went straight through to the garden to let them have a bit of a sniff about. Interestingly, Harry very deliberately piddled over where Pearly piddled - not sure if that means anything or not. Pearly kept trying to initiate play, by woofing at Harry and racing away (such as you can in our garden!) to get him to chase her. Not that he did! Though there was a bit of raaaaaaarrrring, and Pearly got a bit of a fright cos he's so much bigger than her.
Right now, he's conked out on the living room floor. So far he's living up to his name of Happy Harry. He's certainly so much more relaxed and easy-osey than Pearly was when we took her home. It's early days, but so far - fingers crossed! - it's been good.
Will keep you all posted (or, do I mean, thoroughly bored........).
I've seen Harry and really think he's a stunner. He certainly turns heads! Anyway, hope he lives up to his name and settles in well with you all. Ah, Pearly is a lovely girl too.
By the way the peeing thing is a dominance thing. Blue and Janie constantly peeing on each others spot if we bump into each other on a walk. After the 5th or 6th turn it gets a bit tiring and you worry about dehydration!
Hi Fiona, yeah the pee'ing thing is just marking territory / dominance thing it sometimes gets to the stage here when Ruby is squatting to pee and she's got a male dog actually pee'ing ON her as she's doing it....
I do have to agree, what a handsome pair, now if I was a gambling man I'd be getting money on this pair to bring home a bag full of rosettes at the Christmas Dog Show!...
