Last night went well we think.Only a few barks then silence till this morning.
Went for a long walk in the morning to tire both Pearly and Harry. We then headed off out the front door to pretend to leave them butand listened out iin the garage. Stranglel, Pearly started whining and then barking! Oops!
When we came back in and Pearly was going a bit mental and was stirring it up with Harry - running around barking and snapping the air. Then he gets going! Bit of bedlam.
I can see Pearly is starting to get a bit more testy so I think we may be in for some storiming!
For the first week we've decided to keep Pearly in the hall and Harry in the kitchen - both rooms are dividied by a doggy gate so they are still close and can see each other. We're a bit feaful of Pearly winding the big lad up if they are together and then him either chasing and hurting her in all the excitement. Does this sound sensible?
Hi, Yes, it sounds like you're doing the right thing with the gate to separate Pearly & Harry. When we got our foster dog (Max), we had the most terrible first day with the two dogs. Carol (the GAL follow-up Adviser) is a Godsend, as I phoned her up that first day as I was feeling very stressed. She suggested a house gate, like you are using, to keep them in separate rooms, but unfortunately we didn't have one, but lucky for us the two dogs settled by night time. As I said to Carol that day "I couldn't see light at the end of the tunnel until I spoke to her" - it was such a relief.
FAJ (my better half) spoke to Carol an got good advice so we are sticking to it. We left them both for an hour this afternoon - Harry ripped up the big comfy bedding he was on which is a bit worrying so we've now got hiim in a plastic dog basket.
Poor bugger - everytime Harry lies down in the sun Pearly goes over to him and barks and barks.
