Bath time fun
Permalink Closed

Hi folks, well janie just had her first bath of the year what fun. She gets bathed outside and stands really well until it becomes time to get the shampoo off her, she hates the bucket, hates the hose and was fast becoming a nervous wreck it was turning into bath time blues!! Then came a brainwave (an unusual event for me) filled the watering can with warm water and it had one of those rose things on it so it came out like a shower, well low and behold Janie absolutly adored it and would of stood there allday  letting the warm water cascade over her! Sure the wee monkey is getting mucky on purpose now in the hope of another bath!!

Hi Nicki

Glad you found a way to bath Janie without causing her to stress out. Funny isn't it - how they'll roll about in freezing cold muddy water getting filthy in the process, but don't like getting it washed off with nice warm sudsy water!! She'll probably want a daily shower now.

Excellent tip about the watering can - might just have to try that for Pearly!

My dog Luca enjoys a bath - a mud bath that is!!

We have a field and a park in Alloa that both have quite bad drainage.  If Luca's been having a good old run, you have to try and stop him before he heads off to find the deepest mud pit.  Rather like a hippo, he like to wallow.  He prefers little water, just a good, gloopy muck and as much as possible.  He wades in, lies down with a great big smile on his face and lies there untill he's cooled off.

When he gets home, Iain lifts him into the shower and Luca stands there to get washed.  (At this point I have to say that I wish I kept my flat's original burgundy bathroon suite and brown carpet tiles.)  When he's done, out he pops to get dried before he races of and does his 'happy rub' up and down the walls in my hall, leaving nice, wet streaks.

Lurchers?  Mucky pups!

Millie is much like that too - loves to go splashing around in puddles, ditches and anything else extremely wet and muddy.  It's quite funny really - you can see her gearing up for it.  She'll charge up into a puddle, stand for a couple of seconds and then jump up and down and take off as fast as she can to try and get the maximum effect.  She usually ends up looking a bit like a dalmation!  Like you, I'm convinced it's deliberate because she seems to love standing under a warm shower and getting towelled off afterwards.
