Hi, folks - just wondering if anyone on this side of the country would be interested in seeing whether Vivian would be willing to put on a training class for us? I don't know at all whether she could be persuaded to travel, but maybe if we had a certain minimum number then at least we'd demonstrate that we're genuinely interested.
Pearly is going to training classes at the moment but the focus is all about walking nicely on the lead, which she does beautifully anyway, and getting the dogs to sit on command - there is one chance of Pearly doing that, and it's NO chance! And with her hairless tummy she's not too keen to lie down on the floor, which is another of the hot topics for the class. So some sighthound-specific training with someone who undersands their particular foibles and needs would be wonderful
If you are interested, let me know and I'll contact Vivian to put it to her. She might not, but it's worth a wee try.
YES PLEASE!! Would love to do training with Blue but taking him to Glasgow isn't really an option. If she would travel to Edinburgh or roundabout here some where that would be fantastic!
Viv set a limit of 6 dogs on the Glasgow training class, partly due to space but mostly due to the fact that it's a lot better to have a smaller amount of dogs, that way she can get good one to one sessions with everyone in the class..
Just read these post's and wondered if any had become of these training classes in the East as I'd definatly comw with Millie. I know it was ages ago this was discussed but just wondered if it happened. I have started clicker traing with Millie but i think training classes would help socialize her too

Another yes please from here, even though it was an old post :) We've bought Vivian's book and are started on clicker training though not that far on yet.
Millie's favourite treats are advisable - even though it usually depends on how Graeme train's anyway. You usually find the instructor has extra treats etc with them in class too.
Jennifer, looking forward to hear how Millie enjoyed her first night at training, she probably loved it, meeting all the other doggies.
I know I am too late to ans this, but as Siouxsie said, Millies fav treats should be fine. If Graemes training methods are on a similar vein to Viv's, treats can be classed by value....obviously the higher value the treat the quicker the response from the dog. Also, it needs to be a very quick reward, in as much as, if the dog has to chew the treat they can forget why the got the treat! So, a high value 'quick' treat is best. I give Presley Hotdogs from Lidls.... v cheap, v smelly, and he downs it in a 'millie' second...pardon the pun, and to date no dodgy tummy...even after 6 hotdogs to himself!!
High Value Treats that work for my guys are:
Hotdogs *****
Chicken Breast *****
Liver *****
Steak Sausage *****
Their own doggie biscuits **
Everthing I eat, regardless of what it is **********
Anything out the bin ********
Anything offered to another dog *********
Anything Rancid ********
So have fun, enjoy the class, we always look forward to a Thursday night!
Just back from West Calder. Well i hate to boast but what a natural talent my grey has!!
I was under the impression it was training classes but much to my delight when i arrived, realised it was actually agility
Millie was fab! went over the jumps no bother, was a little shy pf the A frame to start with but after a few gravy bones she went over no problem. Graeme was very pleased with her for the first week considering she can be a little nervous at times. I'll try get some pics of her doing the A frame next week
Oh im so pleased with her and think this well really help her confidence building
oh Suzanne - i see what you mean by the "big green monster" LOL i saw it in the corner but Graeme thought best leave it for another week. One step at a time eh LOL
