I picked up "Maisie" today foster dog No3! She is lovely, a bit timid and wary but i think she will be ok in time. She is very thin. She gets on well with my dogs and so far has been super with the cats (phew!!!) I`m hoping i have a little treasure here!!
Maisie is doing really well, i`m getting the worst looks when i take her out for a walk, people are staring at how thin she is - then they look at me!!! PLEASE can i get one of em GAL coats! I`ll hand it back when she gets fatter!!!
Poor you Sha you must feel like saying that your the one helping to rescue her! Have got a pattern off the internet to sew a coat for Spartacus will add the I need a home logo on if it looks good I'll make some more for other fosterers (pic looks good hope I don't end up with something resembling a potato sack!!!)
Sharon - thankyou so much for inviting me for walkies today. Murphy & Michael had a lovely time (espech Mikey who thouroughly enjoyed cleaning you out of biscuits afterwards!)
Maisie is gorgeous!! Im well smitten so its no wonder you are! A good clean up job, some weight on & loads of TLC & she is gonna be a stunner! (feel free to find her a home near you again...ahem;)...
Not nearly as timid or emaciated as I expected & you are so right, under that "im timid 'feed me'" exterior she is a wee fighter isnt she!! Very streetwise & could put Fagan to shame with her dealth thieving skills!!
Maisie is Greek for "Pearl" & she truly is a rough gem just waiting to be polished!

Just a wee update on Maisie. She is doing really well. She has put on weight and is MUCH happier within herself. She just loves her walks! Maisie is a very clever wee dog and has such a nice nature. She is still a bit wary of men and doesn`t like sudden movements. She is quite obedient and plays well with my dogs off the leash. She is however the worst thief, but pretty and cute with it!!!
apologies folks, Sha sent me some pictures of Maisie a few days ago but she's so lovely I've been keeping them all to myself!!...Will post them here tomorrow...
I just love to see rehomed dogs and cats together. I know it's all soppy and that - but hey! in so many cases I think the dogs and cats communicte that they are in ' the last chance saloon' this is the last chance home - so they better make best of it. In the last 13 years that has been my experience with my dogs and cat.
There is a knowledge - a communication - what ever - I can't explain it - when a needy animal come into my home - they accept things things and settle in. Finn my cat was the most obvious example. He was trapped/rescued by my neighbour Juliette some 7 years ago in Finnieston , Glasgow. She took him to the vet for examination - unfortunately he was diagnosed FIV + ( after he'd been neutered - itbwas touch and go for a few days) so she could not keep him as she had cats of her own. So I offerd him a home if he could cope with my labrador and lucher csoss. The vet diagnosis was that Fnnn was not worth percervering with.
But hey 7 years later he is still on the go. And dealing with dog no no 12 - he is a real star - a real Glagow bruiser - a survivor and a a mrgs star with foster greyhound/lurchers
Sorry i didn`t reply sooner i was on me hols. I left Maisie with Paul, she was just fab and is now Paul`s best buddy. Maisie has done ever so well, at first i doubted if she would ever regain her trust, she was very depressed and scared. She has gained so much confidence in the past few weeks. Maisie is a little darling, she is no bother at all. She still looks a wee bit on the thin side and her coat is dull but def looks a lot better than she did.
Maisie is always gonna be timid towards strangers, male & female but once she has met people a few times she is just fine.
This wee dog is so obedient, safe with cats, safe with dogs of all sizes off the leash, can jump the moon (it`s fab to watch her run and jump fences she clears them by miles) and has the best nature.
I love looking after Maisie, she is a super wee dog.
Aww Sha! Maisie sounds such a sweetie. Give her a big hug from me for doing so well. It's early days yet and her nervousness with strangers to her, could still improve as her confidence grows. Hope to meet you and her sometime at one of the GAL events.
Maisie stayed over at Suzanne & Murphy`s last night. She was a very good girl and had a super time. Maisie and Murphy are great together Murphy even allows Maisie to eat out of his bowl and share his bed. Maisie constantly licks Murphy`s face.
Thank you Suzanne for taking Maisie to the "Hot Dog Show" today and to everyone else for being so kind to her. I was gutted i couldn`t be there but WOW Maisie won BEST YOUNGSTER!!!!
Suzanne brought back a very tired Maisie, but from what i hear Maisie handled the show really well. Maisie is very fond of Suzanne. When Suzanne was leaving she followed her out to her car, jumped straight into it and lay down. Maisie has never done that before. She wasn`t for getting out of it either!!! It`s not like Maisie to go off with just anyone, espesh if i`m around, so I think Maisie has def chosen Suzanne to be her new mum !!!
Oooh, ooh, ooh - did I miss something exciting?!?!?! Tell me, tell me, tell me!!!! Are you a 2-dog household again, Suz? Tell meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
