The only thing I could suggest is using Bach's rescue remedy spray. Ment for humans and from Boots (as well as other chemists I'm sure) it's also good for stressed dogs.

The vet recommended we use it on Blue. We used to put a squirt in Blue's mouth before we left him alone as he was rather prone to seperation anxiety.

Hope this helps but at the end of the day I guess dogs are afraid of vets like some people are afraid of doctors or dentists. It's just one of those things.

Hope all goes well

Amanda

Just to back up what Amanda says about the Rescue Remedy - give it about half an hour before he's due to go. You can get it in a spray, or in a liquid. The liquid can be given straight from the stopper into the side of Bovril's mouth, or in his drinking water. It's a natural essence and tastes like grapes, so it's not unpalatable. We give it to Pearly before any expected fireworks, and we gave it to both of them when we first got them.

Good luck to Bovril at the vet!

Fiona

ps: Pearly and Harry say that it helps very much to have some nice chicken or sausages for tea after the vet to help get over the shock!

About the rescue relief, we use it on Abbey as she is terrified of everything, fireworks, thunder, you name it. (Except greyhounds it appears, cos she is brilliant at all the GAL days we go too).
We use the rescue relief for emergancies and Valerian root and Scullcap herbal tablets for when we know in advance she will get stressed about something.(Like going on holiday!)
Valerian root and scullcap is a mild narcotic sedative and Abbey doesn't seem to have any ill affects with it.

Hope its of some help.
