Ruby & Spoons

Hiya,

We had an unfortunate incident through the week when the dogs were playing, and it became more serious. Luckily we were there at the time and it was off to the vet with Ruby to get her ear stitched.

Ruby will be ok once she heals, but after discussion with Carole, I've decided to return Spoons as he will be better as a single dog. It wasn't an easy decision to make, but there had been other more minor incidents previously which we have split up, and it seems for the best.

Spoon's is back at Rachel and Eddy's who are delighted to have him as he is a firm favourite. He's absolutely georgous and has a great nature (with people) so for anyone thinking of adopting/fostering a solo dog I would totally recommend him.

Hi Jan, spoke to Rachel this morning and she's secretly quite please to have Mr Spoons back!

We all hope Ruby will be OK, fraid these things sometimes happen, I often think it's harder for me to home a second dog with people rather than their first! The whole settling in thing can have a few interesting moments at times and some dogs just decide they prefer their own company!

Anyways Rachel tells me Spoons is looking stunning so hopefully we can find a new home for him fairly quickly, we've also learnt a lot about him from his time with you which will help me a great deal with his re-homing (as a single dog!)

cheers

Dave

Hi Janet

It's a shame things haven't worked out with Ruby and Spoons but you've made the right decision. Hope Ruby's OK - no doubt you'll be spoiling her.

Hope Spoons gets his own home quickly - I've met him 2 or 3 times and he's gorgeous! But I know Rachel and Eddie will be spoiling him too down at Langbank!

Hi Jan

So sorry to hear the news. It must have been a heart breaking decision to make.

I guess some dogs are just ment to be only dogs. Our Blue didn't take too well to Spart being around. Fortunatly no blood was shed but we discovered that although he is great with other dogs out and about he just wants his own house and own mum and dad.

Hope Ruby gets well soon, give her a hug from me

Janet,

Sorry to hear this news, but I'm sure you both tried hard, and put lots of work into Mr Spoons.  It must have been hard for you but no doubt you now will feel less stressed and worried, and enjoy Ruby to the full.

Hope to see you soon.

Thanks for the comments everyone,

We were back at the vet's today, the wound is looking fine, and we got a bigger lampshade thingy as Ruby was able to scratch her ear with the original one! Should get the stiches out (all 12!) next Saturday in time for the walk on Sunday.

Ruby's not too amused with the headcollar, and I'm going to be black & blue as she keeps ramming me with it. She's been a star and lets us clean the wound without a wimper.

I hope Spoons gets re-homed soon, but I know Rachel will spoil him rotten!

Janet

Hi, Janet - you've been very brave. It's harder to make the decision you have than to soldier on and hope for the best, resulting in unhappy doggies and unhappy mum/dad. Spoons will get a great home and it's good that GAL know what he needs.

Hope wee Ruby is okay, and that her poorly ear gets better very soon. We're all sending hugs to her from here.

I suppose sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. We had plenty of moments with big Harry but luckily to date (touch wood!) there's not been anything too nasty.

Good that you tried though and Mr Spoons will no doubt find a good home soon. Pearly sends her sympathies - she had the ear treatment from Harry but just a small tear. Hope Ruby gets well soon.
