Hiya

A quick up date on Jet's first night/day with the mob............ Duck and water spring to mind

Some low rumbles from Abbey.....Florence not phased.......Dexter jealous (better today tho, cos Jet wants to play).........Jet taking everything in his stride.

Met the hoover earlier, not keen but not scared, no accidents (as yet) with toilet stuff and seems to be fine left alone with the mob. Met Toffee and Cookie (through the mesh) and appart from vigourous tail wagging and whinging no aggression.

Well must dash as they've been left alone again, update you all on Monday.

Sounds like things are going great guns - here's hoping all goes smoothly and the houndies are happy. And you too, of course!

It sounds as if Jet has his paws firmly under the table already! It's great news that he's settling so quickly into home living. Looking forward to hearing about his weekend on Monday. Good luck to you all!

Hi All

Bit later than Monday! (Had the flu, very nice!)

Anyway back to Jet. The weekend was fine and event free and so has the week so far. Jet has sussed that you don't argue with the girls, Dexter on the other hand can be bantered at! Nothing major tho. I feel a bit boring, but everything seems to going better than expected.
Jet still has the food fixation at the moment, so bins and the mobs bowls have to be hidden. His back leg which has been broken is a bit stiff when he gets up, but plenty of short walk are limbering him up nicely. On a more positive note he can be left without any problems and the toilet training has been successful. (only had one accident so far, when I wasn't paying attention, flu again). Plus he has great nature and is a big love sponge.

Well thats about all I can think of at the mo...........

We didn't make the show on Saturday, does Jet have a double too?

Well thats what I get for thinking things were going sooooooooo well!

Jet polished off bits of a plastic squeaky hedgehog, 7 home made cookies, one nut cutlet (frozen) and two veggie fingers (frozen). All nicked from the worktop. So big fat belly and strange vapours/ stenches all night last night and he still wanted his rawhide chew!

No worries about him being ill , it ALL passed through this morning.........

.........there's a strange woman checkin her dug poo..........

Yeah - you'll be the talk of the steamie, all right!! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who lives alongside curtain twitchers - they keep waiting for me to do something completely eccentric AGAIN!

Jet has joined some of the other dogs on the forum, like Myrtle and Jamie, who steal everything edible. But it's great to hear how he's getting on now that he's relaxing and showing you his true nature. It sounds as if you won't have a dull moment with him! You just have to find a Jet-proof place to keep goodies in.

One bowl of bran flakes (my breakfast!) sneakly eaten this morning. (From the worktop again). How do I stop him?!
Then he whined cos it was raining and he needed the toilet, THE DOOR WAS OPEN.

Pampered or what.............

err stop them???? Don't think that's possible you just learn to put everything up high! Blue even managed to open the bread bin and eat the contents without making a sound, the bread bin is now on top of the fridge freezer along with the butter dish - even I need a step stool to reach them

Jet had to go to the vet last as he has had a slight limp since we fostered him. This gradually got worse........so off to the vet.

Turned out to be a thorn or summit like that stuck into his pad. So he had to get his foot numbed first...............now that was fun........... major howls as he was jagged all around his toe, had a muzzle on just incase! Me thinks he was more scared than anything tho.

Had a hearty dinner when he went home, so he must have forgiven me..............
not that he got out of his bed this morning to nick my breakfast! I'll see if he says hello when I get home!

Jet (aka Jeremy Jetson) has really settled in now & has a nice shiney coat to prove it!Then theres the angelic/ sweet face he has. No more growls from anyone & its all fun & games now, like chase & grab the toy(s).

Got some photos being developed & will try to up load them asap. (I don't have a digital camera, poor me).

When will Jet/Jeremy's profile be up dated in the adoption bit? (Cos he's great)

I canny believe that we have had Jet/Jeremy for three 3 wks now. Time flies and all that........

His personality is definitely showing its face, squeaky toys are the ultimate favourite, after food of course! Having said that he is a really quiet, affectionate and placid big lump of a boy.

He has put on loads of weight, now at 33.5kg and is nearly back to his racing weight. He is also walking much better with his dodgy leg, having built up some rippling muscles and with his shiny black coat.........well hes a very handsome guy! (Yup cos am still biased!)

Aaww! Jet sounds great! And it's wonderful he's coming out of his shell and showing his personality so soon. All that TLC you're giving him is definitely working. Good for you - and for him!

Hi Christine

Hopefully we will make the August GAL walk at Strathclyde Park & the BBQ, so we can show him off.

Not sure if its TLC exactly, he just gets treated the same as the rest of the mob............. Right ok they're spoiled & pampered, but aren't they all?!

What a wonderful picture it looks as though they are perfecting a synchronised swimming act! (minus the water of course - we all know greys don't do water....)

Hi Louise

Great pics of your gang doing what greys love doing! If Jet is lying on his back, he must be very relaxed and it looks as if he's settled well into life at home with you and your other dogs. Good for you - you're doing a great job!

Jet/Jeremy has now started to have a mad 10-20 mins each morning, or is that just when its sunny. Every toy has to be dragged out o the toy box and taken to his bed. Me thinks he is going slightly mad..............

The unamed Saluki cross at the SSPCA is beautiful................no room at the inn here tho............hope he/ they all get a home soon.

I think Jet like his new 'mum and dad' but Jet being the kinda laidback kinda guy wasn't giving much away and ignoring everyone even me , but then the treats came out.........

I'm glad he has a forever home, but its gonna be hard to say goodbye........jings I can feel a limp in my throat already............... I'm off to fuss him/ them all while I can. (O and get the camera working overtime!)

HURRAH!

Chris - who will be Jet's new mum - is a friend of mine.  She made the decision to adopt a greyhound some time ago, but had various commitments over the summer so has waited until now to give whichever lucky hound Dave decided her full and undivided attention.

As the time has got nearer Chris has got more and more excited and although I haven't spoken to her yet about today's meeting, I know she will be marking the days off on her calender until Jet can go to live with them.

She and husband David are a lovely couple, with loads of doggy experience and a gorgeous two acre garden.

And - Jet will be having his hols here (with Sim and Suzie) when Chris and David go on holiday in October.  I am really looking forward to meeting him.

DOUBLE HURRAH

I am so pleased - for Chris, and Jet, and . . . . . . . well, EVERYONE!  Sniff

Hi Louise/Lesley and everyone

It's GREAT news that Jet has found a super new home! Louise, you've helped him find that home! I know you'll be sad to see him go, but you know that he'll have the home he deserves! I've a big lump in my throat just thinking about it. And Lesley, hope Chris brings Jet along to some of the events. Looking forward to meeting them all.

Jet has now left the house.........

We all went with Jet yesterday to his new home, and we are ALL well jealous!

The garden is huge and beautiful with loads of peeing posts/trees, my three thought they were in heaven cos of all the sprinting room!

Florence, Abbey, Dexter, Robert & I all miss Jet, but hope he will be very happy with his new mum (Chris) & dad (David)

I spoke to Chris last night and she and David are just thrilled with Jet - Chris said it was just like he had always been there.

I haven't met Jet yet as my whole focus has been on trying to find/catch Maggie - but I am going on Thursday with Sim and Suzie to meet him, and we are all looking forward to it.

(told you their garden is gorgeous )

Sim, Suzie and I went to meet Jet yesterday.  He is just lovely and very settled in already.  Chris and David are delighted with him.

Jet and Sim enjoyed themselves hurtling round the garden, then we went indoors and they played 'tag' up and down the hall, skidding round the corner into the lounge - good job it's not a new carpet !  Chris and I went to the spare bedroom where the computer is and found that they must have been using the spare bed as a spring board naughty boys!

Poor Suzie missed most of the fun as she is in season (was about to be neutered when she tore her achilles) and it was immediately apparent that Jet can't have been neutered very long cos he had amorous intentions, so poor Suzie had to spend most of the afternoon in the car.  However before we left, once Jet was upside down in his bed, she came for a walk round the garden which is all she's allowed at the moment anyway.

We had a really nice afternoon - Jet seems just as laid back about company as Sim is so he will be a doddle to have as a house guest in October.  Chris was delighted to see him rushing around and playing big boxing games with Sim too.

I am sure Chris will bring him to an event as she really enjoyed the Strathclyde walk she came to.
