Just wanted to share a really good tip and some great news we've had today!!!
For the last couple of weeks we've been banging our head against a brick wall trying to find ways of keeping Barney off the worktops whilst we've been out. For those who don't know the story, he was caught with all 4 feet on the draining board one morning! Stupid mutt thinks he's a cat!!!!!
Anyway, I sent my brother a text message yesterday asking him if he had any suggestions (he has 2 beautiful lurchers, Leah & Kendal). His first idea was to cut his legs off at the knees (not so keen on that idea!!), then he suggested boxes on the worktop. Do you remember the big green boxes that Safeway did a couple of years ago? Well, we covered the worktops with them and left them slightly overhanging the edge.
We've been out all day today (it's our eldest son's birthday tomorrow so we've been to Edinburgh Zoo for the day to treat him) and when we came in, all the boxes were in the same place as we left them!! Hooray!! Might just be a one off, but we are so pleased and proud! Of all of them, not just Barney!
So there you are .... a top tip .... put big boxes over things you don't want your dogs to be climbing on!!

On a totally diff note and top tips - I'm working at the Highland Show and ventured over to see the gundog show and terrier racing.
A tip that I heard from terrier racers is that if you have dogs that never let go of its prey you can squirt a tiny bit of vinegar down its throat and the jaws release immediately. Works with every dog they say. Any they were right - at one point 3 of the wee buggers were hanging from a lure - one wee squirt and they all let go.
Strange though as they never learned not to do it again - suppose it's in the breeding - nippy wee blighters they were.
