After meeting Joy at the last Strathclyde Park walk and then again at the Hot Dog Show we collected Coco (nee Joy) today.
I met Steve and his happy throng (Jess & Rosco) on neutral territory in New Lanark. Fiddie and Coco had already met a few times, so after some mutual sniffing we headed off on a walk to the Falls of Clyde. Fiddie and Coco quickly fell into step and started to mirror each other. Coco's good influence rubbed onto Fiddie - he hardly even noticed any other dogs during the walk.
Back at the car park, after a quick squabble over the water bowl, I loaded two tired hounds into the car. I was expecting a scrap in the car because Fiddie likes to stretch out and doesn't like other dogs near his feet when he is lying down but they both fell asleep without a sound.
When we got home Coco followed Fiddie up the stairs into the flat - no problems with the stairs at all. Coco explored the flat and tried to steal Fiddie's quilt but was quickly put in her place. I'm glad to see that Fiddie is explaining his house rules; these include don't sleep on my quilt, don't steal my toys and I get fed first. Meal time passed without incident but I did feed on his own Fiddie first and then Coco later.
They are both asleep in the sitting room now, Fiddie on the rug in the middle of the floor and Coco on top of a quilt - she is already breaking his rules!!
Hopefully tonight will be ok but I'll wager that I won't get a full night's sleep
Congratulations Andy and Iluska for adding to your family. I bet Fiddie is just chuffed to bits to have a stunning girlfriend to show off when he's out and about! And you and Iluska have a pooch each to cuddle now!
I'm sure Coco will settle in really well...it took Keera and Jamie about a week to really find their feet, they seem to adapt extremely quickly!
Look forward to seeing you all at the sponsored walk. Hope you all have lots of fun between now and then.

Great news that Coco is settling in well with you, Iluska and Fiddie! Sounds as if Charles is right - Coco will see what she can get away with in the first few days, while Fiddie will let her know when she's gone too far! It must have been funny watching her inch her way on to Fiddie's duvet. The next week or so will be very interesting and lots of fun, I hope.
It was after midnight before we got to bed and Coco started whimpering as soon as the kitchen light went out. Every now and then there would be a bark or a growl from Fiddie - Coco getting too close / stealing his duvet / standing on him. About 4am I went into the kitchen to quieten them down.
A couple of hours later, Coco was having a wee whine to herself and Iluska went through to see her and never came back! She curled up on Coco's beanbag (Coco was now sharing Fiddie's duvet ) and snoring in unison with the two dogs .
Sunday was a good day - lot's of walks and popping in and out of the house. Coco is just coming out of season and Fiddie is perky to say the least . The people across the road must be getting a full view of Fiddie jumping around and wondering why he has Barry White tunes playing in his head
Last night was a peaceful night. No interuptions, no barking, no rows. I had to wake the dogs up this morning to take them out.
Coco's bladder is still on Steve time (he gets up really early for work) so there have been one or two wee accidents but we are now learning what her different whines mean.
Just a wee update. Coco is now out of season and there is no more hoppity-hop and performances, just for our pleasure (not!!) - watching t.v.; eating dinner; walking up and down the hall ...
Well, all seems to be fine in the Andy & Iluska household. There are very few growls and howls and I believe they quite enjoy each others company. As for our company, one moves and two shadows follow and not to very exciting locales - kitchen to do dishes; hang out the washing - och, they are just adora-bubbles!!!!
We have had wee Coco for one week, but how strange, it feels we have had her all along with Fiddie and that seems for ever;he has been with us for only 11 weeks. What a fantastic and fulfilling time we are having, with us not wishing to rush out and see friends, as we need to leave our fun-filled duo at home.
We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow, Sunday, 3 July @ Strathclyde Park - wee picnic and goodies in tow.
Well, that's the first 10 days of two dog living and it's all been straight forward. We took Coco to the vet this morning and she marched right in with no fear. She didn't even notice when she got her vaccinations. Coco got a clean bill of health but needs to get her teeth cleaned as she has bad gingivitis (sp) which causes her a bit of discomfort and make her breath pong
We're off to buy her a bed now because Fiddie monopolises the quilts and then gets grumpy when she tries to curl up on a corner.
Brave wee Coco being so good at the vets! And it's great she's settled in without any fuss. Fiddie will come round in time, I'm sure, and he'll be sharing his quilt with her in a little while. He's just used to being on his own and everything belonging to him. They're like spoilt children really!
how nice to hear that coco is settling in - well done you two ! dave and daisy weren't kennelled together until we decided to adopt them. they then spent a week at the kennels together and came to us as a pair - they share the bed and food very well, we've never heard a squeak out of them about sharing. seems like they've always been together, and always been with us too.
dunno about dogs adapting well - us humans seem to do the same. makes me wonder who is training who?!!!!!!!!!
Our two are like that - never a cross word. I think we have been very lucky with them - they are both so laid back: totally at ease with each other from the day Suzie arrived to join Sim. They have never bickered over beds. We do feed them separately, but only because Suzie eats so much more slowly than Sim.
We went to buy a donut bed for Fiddie - lovely and big (and heavy). Leaving the two quilts which the dogs were sharing, doubling them over for Coco.
Yep, you guessed it - Coco now has the donut! She is tiny in it! Indeed, there is enough room for two dogs who don't mind sharing, to share this tartan wonder of a bed.
Otherwise, Fiddie isn't so grumpy towards his "sister" and lets her play with his toys (only took 2 weeks!!!!)
