Had Maisie n Murphy up at the Roman Fort behind the Falkirk Wheel yesterday - FAB place for the dogs to go mental & all very secure with nice wee river to drink out of .....

Myself & my pal were sitting in the sun blethering as the dogs chased each other all over the place....all having fun when all of a sudden Maisie froze - she was staring into the woods that were about 600 yrds away - totally transfixed & rigid then this almighty growl came from the pit of her belly - a really mean growl & she just kept growling, hackles up & then starting barking madly - she never moved an inch - stock still in between us and the woods.

We couldnt see a thing but didnt hang around to find out what she was protecting us against!! That growl had me well freaked - what the hell was in the woods!!!! - it was a real 'get away from us or Ill rip your throat out' type growl....

I feel really quite touched that she stood in front of us tho & even as we walked (quickly!!) away she ran a perimeter circle around us keeping an eye on the woods the whole time....

Murf just ran about like a goof the whole time quite oblivious!! Least I know that if someone breaks into my house in the night to bludgeon me to death then Maisie - the girl!! Murphy!!!! - will protect me!!

Hi Suzanne,

Alan was saying it might have been a wild cat - you know how many sighting there has been of that type of creature - you never know.

And what a wonderful story of Maisie protecting, after what she seems to have been through before she came to GAL her first instinct is to protect you.

Hope to meet Maisie & Murf's again and you too Suzanne

Hi Suzanne

I'll echo what the other Suzanne said - Maisie IS amazing for protecting you when she's been through so much herself. What a wonderful little poppet she is! But it makes me wonder just exactly what it was she was protecting you from! Wildcat is a possibility - could have been wild mink too, as they can be pretty vicious.

At least you know that you'll be safe wherever you go now, with Maisie as a minder!

Christine
