how long do you walk your dogs for each day?? I mean cumulatively??

Murf n Mais get on average 1.5hrs a day but it can range from 1.5 - 3hrs - on days off that is...

I generally walked them just twice a day - an hour in the morning & an hour in the evening & they get out into the back garden for the toilet/a run around in between...

but if we do a 3hr trip to the beach per say then thats their one & only walk for the day...

Id be interested to see what other folk do...obviously everyones different as you have to fit your life in their somewhere too and it suits me to do fewer but longer walks, but thats not everyones cup of tea....

Bov usually gets 40 mins twice a day or longer or shorter depending on the weather if its raining its as quick as he can do his biz then turns tail for home,if we are somewhere new its longer cos he just sniffs and sniffs for ages and if there is RABBITS then we've no chance of budging him.

Mac gets walked a min of 5 times a day, on my working days - aprrox 15-20mins each time - longer if Denzel decides to come!! No, I haven't started poo scoop with Den!!

1st Walk between 5am - 6.30am

2nd Walk 10.30am

3rd Walk 2.30pm

4th Walk 6pm

Last walk between 9pm - 10pm

My Days off, sunny nights, or GAL events - usually include a trip to the park for an 1hr.  If he needs the toilet between walks, which is v unusual, he gets out in the garden - on or off the lead depending where Denzel is.

If I wasn't self employed the walking times would vary greatly to fewer but longer walks. All the dogs that I have had throughout my life were fortunate enough to have human and/or doggie company all day, but over the past year I have had to ensure the dog fits into my life style otherwise I wouldn't be able to have one.

So little and often works for us, but I must say Mac does enjoy the park.....and the big sleep when he gets home.

dave and daisy get half an hour in the early evenings - longer if the weather is good (they hate the rain !)

in addition to that, they have the run of the garden first thing in the morning, at lunch times, and most of the evening (until winter returns and we don't keep the back door open)

they very often use the lounge and hallway as a racetrack, chasing each other around till they flop down, panting with the exertion !

Hi

Coco & Fiddie get 40-45 minutes in the morning, around 6.15 p.m.  Susan Lang walks the darlings at lunchtime for about the same period of time; this duration of time is then repeated around 6.45 p.m. on return from work - now, this is all during school days.

At the weekend they will get over an hour each time and that can be up to five times each day.  Now that we have discovered the dog enclosure at Bellahouston Park and they get to run, with Coco picking up the frizbee on being thrown, the dogs are extra knackered.  Wow, it is like poetry in motion seeing these magnificent dogs run!!

Our honeys get out 5 times a day.  All together that means about 3 hrs worth of walkies time (at least) from 2 decent walks and 3 quick 'piddle trips' to the park facing our front door.

We do live in a flat though, so it's only fair that they get a good run out and time to stretch those long legs properly.

Like other folks, at the weekends when Iain is off or when we are on our holidays, they get a lot more.

My beautiful babe gets a minimum of 5 walks a day varying from 30mins being her morning walk,to 2hrs being her main walk, the other three last about 30mins each, then she gets longer at the weekend, she adores being out and about and so do we, whenever we meet Blue, Phil normally asks how many walks we have had so far that day! Suits us and janie loves it.

We walk for an hour in the morning, they have pigs ears and a sniff in the garden in the afternoon and then a 40 minute walk in the evening. Obviously this can vary a bit depending on weather, injuries, human or doggy company during the walk, kids illness, work etc.

Seems fine for me and my darlings, Suzanne .... you just have to find what suits you and your lovelies.

On work days, Vegas has a 10-20 minute walk on lead between 8-9am in the mornings with me, 45mins-1hr with Billy in the park between 12noon-1.30pm, another 45mins-1hr with me when I come in from work between 5-6pm, a quick 10 mins round the block after our dinner, say 8pm, and Billy always takes him for 'last orders' between 11-12midnight. Martin often takes him out too at any time in between any of these.

At weekends and when Billy is off through the week, it's much more relaxed with maybe fewer but longer walks.
