Well Mav is here....

Lita said he's not too hot with other breeds of dog but he appears fine with Max our labrador. No fights as yet but thats hard to do penned in the cage to calm down.

He's a little stressed with a few bald patches on his nose from a bark control muzzle.

He seems in reasonably good health and is definately NOT skinny.

Mav yelped and seemed lame on his front left foot but is supposed to have a muscle injury to one of his hind legs so not sure whats wrong on the front. Will get him booked in for a check asap.

I've seen a pet lip of him already (show of teeth) but I was washing him at the time around the face so could have touched a raw bit of skin so will keep you posted on this issue.

Thats all to report at the moment except when he farts its definately NOT silent and deadly but noisy and deadly !!!!

Thanks to Lita and John for dropping him over and thanks to John for all the advise on my bloomin Landrover !!!

Will post a picture soon of our new boy.

maverick has certainly scrubbed up well. He is such a handsome chap. So glad all is OK with him & Max the Lab (need to prove the trainer is wrong!)

Mav had a good night considering....
He woke up a couple of times whimpering but a stern NO and a short blast of water enabled me to get back to sleep promptly.

He's gonna be sleeping in the kitchen tonight instead of the living room (he was only there to dry out after his bath) so that I don't disturb his sleep and vice a versa

He's had a good day today.... having an adventure in the back garden and we had him in the field next door for a bit of play... he would chase the ball but then get disinterested when the ball didn't keep running away.

Max and Mav have been face to face without muzzles today and Lita NOTHING HAPPENED. Mav only growls at Max when he's in his cage.... Guess Mav is all mouth no action at the moment. Hopefully we can prove the trainer wrong about him.

I have some more pictures of Mav for everyone and will post the link to them shortly.

He is doing well and is marking his territory frequently so Max and him are having peeing competitions. Mav has his eyes on Charlies girlfriend Missy. All the boys seem to fancy the GALa Queen !!!

Mav tried to get further with Missy but her heart is most definately still Charlies

No accidents in the house yet but still early days.

Personal Meetings with my other dogs is still at a minimum at the moment until I can trust them ALL to get along.

But so far so good as in Missy telling him to get lost. Will try them both together again tonight.

Mav had a disturbed night waking and moaning nearly every hour. ANY SPENT MATCH STICKS OUT THERE plenty needed in Falkirk right now.

Gonna feed him late and make sure that he's tired enough to maybe give me more than an hour at a time of sleep.

Well at least its pay back time... not letting him to get a real long nap at anyone time .... tee hee hee so he's gonna be ready to sleep over night with a bit of luck.

I'll keep ya posted.

I'm sure it won't take long before Mav settles down. He's just not used to home living and everything is strange! He'll soon be as chilled out as the rest of them. Let us know how he's getting on...

Well everyone the payback worked to a degree last night !! Yipeeeee !

We as in all the family including the kids wouldn't let Mav have a great big snooze all day yesterday. Don't get me wrong ... we allowed him many smaller naps. We also had him out the front of the house tied up on his long rope to get lots of fussing from the kids in the street (also breaks the sleep patterns) NO soft bed either. He was out in the back garden in the afternoon and snoozing in the utility room. Also my kids took him for several walks for me. The aim of the day was to make him SO tired he wouldn't wake up over night. I also gave him three meals yesterday but his main dinner was eaten at 11pm so full tummy + being shattered = more sleep time.

Well I can report some success !

1.38 am I got some 2 and a half hours kip before he woke up and started singing... so moved out of bed into the kitchen picked up the water gun (in complete darkness) and fired..... Direct HIT - not bad. That stopped the singing instantly so back to bed again.... 20mins (2 am) later he starts singing again but quieter. So snuck out of bed again and fired the water gun and again a direct hit in complete darkness. Funny enough Mav didn't sing again until the reasonable hour of 7.30am.

So we will do something similar today to stop him having such good sleeps during the day and to make him save his good sleeps until tonight.

I certainly feel far more refreshed today for having a solid block of sleep !

I am sure he will come good.

LITA : Mav isn't agressive to other breeds of dogs that I can see its more like he don't like anyother MALE dogs. We have certainly NOT had any scraps with Max. Also Mav doesn't like Charlie too much but I feel that is a mutual dislike.

Poor old Mav is gonna have to be checked into the vet to have his teeth cleaned might book Charlie in at the same time - both have more tartar than teeth !!!!!

Hi Katrina, You certainly put a good plan of action in place yesterday to get some sleep. Hope the vet visit goes well. Interesting that Mav has a dislike to other males ....
I remembered a TV drama called 'Maverick' quite a few years ago, so became intrigued to know what the name 'Maverick' means - dictionary says 'undisciplined person' !!! Doesn't look like this name will be appropriate for long now that he has you armed with your water pistol!!!

Hope all continues to go well with the master sleep deprivation plan (for Mav that is not you!!) and that the vets visit is a success.

SUCCESS!

I got a full nights sleep last night !!! YIPPPEEEEEE ! (still on the bed sofa tho)

Mav managed a full nights kip !!!

But saying that Missy hogged most of the bed so ended up curling up like a greyhound in my own bed

. Not only did she take over most of the bed .... she bloomin stole my sheets too! What a cheeky girl.

Glad you both got a good nights sleep. Can sympathise with the no covers and clinging to the edge of the bed as Gambol tends to come up onto our bed and position himself between Jim and me lying across the way,which is fine until he stretches those long,gangly legs of his!! It becomes totally unbearable when Jamie decides to come up too and then in the morning Keera (who is a very good girl and sleeps all night on her bed downstairs)joins them!! But , hey I wouldn't change it for the world!!
