Channel 4 It's Me or My Dog
Permalink Closed

Hi

How many watched the new C4 programme - It's me or my dog.

All about families at point of desperation with their badly behaved dogs. Enter dog trainer to retrieve situation.

Last night subjects were two overweight young unneutered labradors who ruled the household in between shagging one another.

They were definately tops dogs.  Trainer arrived and  she had the dogs under control quite quickly.

The owners were quite reluctant to get the boys neutered - awhhh we  quite like the dogs plums.

Basically the owners did not have a clue how to train dogs and because when they tried in past to train them they gave up.

Charles

ps the dogs were neutered in the end.    Tune in 8.30 next week

I thought it was really good, I liked the bit when they took the owners to a shelter to show them the life their Lab faced (or even worse no life) if they didn't shape up and sort him out.

Best bit was the calender marked with goodbye furry plum day!

If the prgram helps even a few unruly dog owners to get them under control then it'll be worthwhile.

I saw the prog. and thought it was very good.  Even to a non-expert it was apparent right at the start that the boys needed to be neutered.

The girl doing the training was excellent - had those dogs right where she wanted them in five minutes flat!  Amazing!

By the end everyone was happier - dogs and family - a good result.

Looking forward to next week.

Would castration make our husbands more obedient?  I wonder.......

Carol - are you giving away too much about your home life?

Personally, I don't have a problem with my husband humping the guests, or piddling on the driveway.  But if you do - why not suggest castration and see how he reacts!!!!!!!!!

Lesley,

I didn't know you were so liberal!!  Iain may not be obedient but I would certainly have a problem with him trying to hump any of my guests.  Maybe they should do another Channel 4 programme about your marriage!

oh dear - wording, wording . . . . . . !

Poor Jerry - if he only knew what my thoughtless use of language had accidentally accused him of!  When, of course you knew, I meant exactly the opposite.

Note to self - must be more careful!

well, i've managed to train the husband not to hump the guests or piddle on the driveway - he uses the garden now.... well, i guess he does - he goes out there with dave and daisy at about 10.30pm and when he comes back, he just says "all done".  never thought he wasn't including himself in that statement !

isn't castration a tad extreme? or is the word you are looking for ..... circumcision?  the terms are easily muddled up.

Did anyone else see last night's programme where the woman had six dogs, all of whom were never walked at all? They were fed on 99s from the ice cream van, ice lollies, tea and biscuits!

No wonder they were hyper! To be fair the woman owner loves her dogs - but her husband, son and neighbours didn't because her dogs were completely out of control and obviously ruled the house. The dog trainer had a hard job convincing her to change and in the end had to be hard on her by taking her along to a dog shelter to show her what would happen if her dogs were taken away from her by the council.

At the end of the programme, the family was a lot happier and the woman could see the difference it made having better behaved and more obedient dogs around.

I watched Ch4s Its Me or My Dog.  I think its shocking how some owners can be so ignorant to the basics of looking after their animals.  At least this lady seen sense and knew she needed help and guidance to get back on track. I mean she never even walked her dogs before the dog trainer came in!!  It also goes to show what can be achieved with the right training. The change in all the dogs behaviour after the dog trainer had been with them was amazing
