I'd like to get to know everyone and their dogs a little bit as I can't in person as I live in England and I'm pretty new to this forum. Just tell a little bit about your dog(s) and yourself if you wish.
Hi Sarah, I guess I'll start, apparently I'm the big cheese cos I talk to much on here I'm also the homing co-ordinator for GAL and owner of ARCHIE (whippet/collie X) RUBY (Greyhound) GEORGE (Staffie/whippet X) WIZARD (saluki/greyhound X) IVOR (Greyhound - Ruby's brother) SUZIE (Greyhound) and REBEL (cross breed with huge ears)...not forgetting the cats - SIX, ZED & SPANNER...
we (neil and teresa) also live in england so don't get to know these guys, apart from on here. it's a great forum - everyone is so friendly and helpful ! whereabouts in england are you?
we have dave and daisy - both retired racing greyhounds and they are our first dip into the greyhound breed and we are totally hooked on them. we got them from the trainer who looks after all his retired hounds until forever homes are found for them.
next friday, they've been with us for a whole year and i can't imagine life without them !
We (Billy and Christine) adopted Vegas from GAL just over 2 years ago. He's a very handsome Hancock Lurcher with blue eyes and we can't imagine life without him now.
We live in Cumbernauld which is just down the road a bit from Falkirk and Bonnybridge. Looking forward to hearing about your gang on the forum!
I too live in England and share my home with Billy Gilly (pronounced Jilly) Whoopie and Maisie. If you would like to see some photos you can go to my website http://greyhound.homestead.com and see my 4 black beautys
I am also in England but reading this lot often wish I wasn't, I want to join in more and be in Scotland too! They are a really nice bunch and always there to listen or advise. They have all been really welcoming towards me and I love it on here too.
I have just lost my Charlie he was black and white and a real character. I was left with just Tiger a cute brindle boy who is the most loving dog imaginable. Tiger missed Charlie too and we have now had Chad who is fawn for a week.
My two are Harry and Pearly, two gorgeous greyhounds and the lights of my life (see my avatar). Except when they'e moaning and whining for attention at 5.20 in the morning!!! Harry is almost 4 and Pearly is 4 already. Both are GAL dogs; we've had Pearly for 17 months and Harry for 6 months. Time certainly flies when you're having fun.
We have a 6 year old male grey hound called Blue. We have had him for just over a year now and is a fantastic friend and very protective over our 2 children (Harry 5 and Eve 2).
He is a master bin raider (he was a stray and perfected the art of wheely bin opening to get his grub) and as he is starting to get on a bit is turning into a grumpy old man!! Huge sighes and flappy cheeks if we dare to make too much noise when he is trying to sleep or if he thinks we should be going to bed.
We live in Longniddry on the East Lothian coast. Originally from Guisborough in the North East of England we relocated up here 5 years ago one of the best decisions we ever made!
Luca is a black and white rough-coat lurcher with a cat's personality: only loves you when he's after something.
Eilidh is a slightly nutty, tiny, black groo, who will be two next month.
Whistler is our newest and oldest. He's a seven-year-old wheaten, rough-coat lurcher who looks just like an overgrown teddy bear and loves his cuddles.
I have three groos. Florence we got from RGT is a small petite 6 yrs old brindle girl, but don't let that fool you cos she's the boss. Abbey is 7 this month, white & black blind in one eye and scared of everything, got her from our local vet when she in to be PTS. Dexter the fawn handsome boy who is 3 and is a bit nutty, (altho there seems to be a bit of a chararter change at the mo). Dexter was from the SSPCA via the GAL website. (The motley three are in the picture, cos I have FINALLY worked out how to up load and avatar!)
Then there is Ben the GAL foster boy who is just lovely and cuddle. He is a blue 3 year old.
Originally from Guisborough in the North East of England we relocated up here 5 years ago one of the best decisions we ever made!
How spooky, Amanda, I'm originally from Normanby - not far down the road from Guisborough!! I will be travelling the outskirts on the road to Whitby this coming weekend!!!!

We got involved with GAL just six short months ago. Now we have two GAL dogs: Fiddie a big, black five year old boy who has a propensity for mischief and sleeping; and our wee girl is Coco who is a champion bin raker.
My names Veronica(though I like being called Vee) and I live in Glasgow.I don't personally have any greyhounds but I do have a pretty big zoo.A wee rabbit called Smudge,a cat called Sassie and a golden retriever called Tara (and thats not counting my other half of the zoo, 3 kids and partner)
Even though I do not have a greyhound I do care about them
Enjoy the forum and getting to know the great people involved.

Janie found her forever home with me just over 3 years ago, she is a stunning wee brindle and is 6 years of age now. We stay in East Lothian, a village by the coast it is lovely.
She is terrified of loud noises and i mean terrifed the poor wee scone. But she is just wonderful and the most loving dog, and i love her to bits
Siouxsie here, we have Saska my one year old Hungarian Vizsla (the maddie) who we have had since she was a pup, and a few months ago Zada our 4 year grey chose us, an ex-racer and an absolute darling. This being our first grey, but I have always had a great love for hounds, I have had 3 lurchers previously.

Keera is a bit of a celebrity...you can see her picture on page 3 of News and Views under the heading of SSPCA Magazine and also with our cat Smudge on page 4 of About yout Dogs under heading of When Cat Testing Goes Right.
We also have 2 fish so all in all a mental household!!!

A huge welcome to the forum Sarah & co !!! kiss goodbye to any spare time you have, coz if you are anything like the rest of us, you will be brainwashed into spending most of your time on here !!! and then theres the chatroom of a late drunken evening....DOH!!
I adopted my wee black boy Murphy - pure GH, about 21 mths ago at the tender age of just 4mth old pup! 3 mths later I had the house laminated as he had wee'd on every carpet going! JOYS - he is a wee darling - a true gentleman & wiser than his years even tho he does still act as if he is 6mths old at times!
He also inspired me to train to be a Veterinary nurse (currently in year 2 of 3.5yr course as we speak & LOVING IT!) - bit of an early mid-life crisis (at 30) but by far the best decision Ive ever made.....
apart from deciding to adopt Murphy a little sister to keep him company as i spend my evenings studying....
4 mths ago I adopted Maisie, she too is about 2yrs old - a saluki/GH cross. She was a severe abuse case (you can see her before & after piccies on page 2 of 'About your Dogs' ....- Murfs on there too).
She is an absolute darling. Her confidence still grows with each day & both her & Murphy are absolutely inseparable. They love nothing more than curling up together on the sofa together - usually taking turns for whose bum can be the pillow today. Maisie kisses the life out of him ALL the time - SUCH a licky dog!!
I never thought I would find a 2nd dog that would suit Murphys needs as he is really quite submissive & got picked on all the time by other dogs. But then Maisie is even more submissive so they suit each other perfectly & have brought out so much confidence in both of them !
I love them both soooo much. My poor mother is most distressed as she wants grandkids BADLY - I keep telling her that the dogs are as close as she is gonna get!! LOL
I live in Edinburgh - just me n the Groos...

I'd just like to say to Suzanne I had a look at Maisie on the before and after pics and I was absoloutly horrified at how badly she was treated on the befores. Then a big smile spread on my face looking at the after pics. You've done a really fantastc job Suzanne and every one else involved. She looks such a happy dog in those pics.Murphys a beautiful boy too!You should be very proud of them both. Oh and I should say that I am also a vet! Its the most worthwhile job in the world and I enjoy every second of it.
I am really impressed at how lovely everyones dogs are but not as impressed as I am with my fantastic four
