We just got back from holiday late last night (well 3am by the time we drove home from Manchester). Didn't think it was fair to wake Rachel & Eddie to retrieve the pooches so they're still in kennels!

Can't wait to get out of work and go get them!

Not sure if they'll be happy to see us or in the huff that we left them behind, although as they were last seen trotting off for a walk without as much as a backward glance, it could be the second. No loyalty in my hounds!

Steve and I have only left Pearly in kennels the once and we were both desperate to get her back. We'd been down in Manchester at a family gathering and were over the moon to hear Steve's parents say that they were heading back early cos the weather was a bit iffy. We kept urging them to drive faster! As soon as we got home (East Lothian) we were straight in our own car to head over to Fife to get her. Of course, she was absolutely fine and dandy! Though I'm sure she'd missed us really. I was worried about whether she'd settle when she home again but she rushed straight through to her bed in the living-room and fell asleep.

Hope you had a great holiday, Jan!

Hi Jan,

Hope you had a great Hol. I'm sure the dogs will be fine on the two occasions that we left ours they were fine, apart from the older one turning into what I call a snob dog  - this is where they are sulky and don't want to know you. He managed to keep it up for a couple of days and then got bored!

We are quite lucky in that department though because we kennel them at the racing kennel where they came from. They have a kennel to themselves which, is very luxourious with the bedding elevated -old dogs shouldn't be on the floor in case they get a draft yes really - the people there are not your typical greyhound trainers and not a single dog is allowed to leave until new owners have been vetted, completed paperwork etc. we worry when we have to leave them, but not too much! Em x

Hiya Jan

I took my wee Tara on holiday to Skye with us this year and she absoloutly loved it! We were there for a week and had our 3 children with us.It was so relaxing!

There were 2 other dogs there that tara got on with as a bonus she had a HUUUUUUUGE 8 acres of land to run about with but didn't want her getting lost so made do with 2 acres. She actually went in a bit of a huff when we left because she wouldnt see her wee pals again for a while....Sorry I have rambled on a bit!!

Hope you had an excellent Holiday Jan!

When I went on holiday for a while my dogs stayed with my mum in the country. They were very huffy with me when I came back but soon sooked up to me after travelling back home and settling themselves beside the fire with a nice big pigs ear to chew.

The way to a dogs heart is through its stomach I suppose!

Luv Sarah,Mark and the Gang xx

Hi all

We came back from holiday recently and picked Vegas up from Rachel and Eddie's. It's always upsetting leaving him behind for a couple of weeks, but we always get a welcome from him when we get back. Vegas is a smiler and he gives us a goofy grin often, but especially when we come home from a holiday. It's wonderful to see and he's always in tip-top condition - I can't praise Rachel and Eddie highly enough - they're so dedicated to what they do with the dogs!

When we can, we take Vegas with us and he has a ball! On the beach, in the field, it doesn't matter - he just relishes being with us all the time.

Sneaked out of work early (lunchtime) and got the pooches! We didn't have any worries about Rachel & Eddie looking after them as they are great with the hounds, it was purely selfish on our part wanting them back!

They seemed happy to see me and we went for a big walk in the park. Ruby was definately in the huff last night, but they're back to normal this morning.

Thanks Andy & Ilushka and anyone else who walked them - Rachel had mentioned you were down walking hounds, and as usual they are always happy to get attention, walks and hotdogs! It's good for Bob to get experience of as many folk as possible as well.
