As some of you will have read my post in Finn the cat RIP, our beloved cat Smudge was caught by one of our pooches and disappeared. Well I'm glad to say he is home safely. I had dropped 2 of the kids off at a school activity today (before 9 o'clock so lots of moaning about being up early on a Saturday!!) and on my way home saw from a distance a cat looking very like Smudge going in a gate across the road from us. I parked the car, shouted on him and he trotted towards me miaowing. What a great feeling it was to see him.
He seems to be a little thin so I don't think he was taken in by anyone and his coat is a little scruffy, but other than that he seems fine. He'll have a weekend of warmth cuddles and lots of treats and we'll see on Monday if he needs a wee visit to the vets for a check up. As he is just now I think lots of rest will do him the world of good.
Thanks to everyone who kept their fingers crossed for him and for all your kind words and thoughts..especially Caroline a big thank you. My girls will be delighted when they come home later.

Absolutely delighted that Smudge is back safe and sound! I can imagine how relieved you must be and the girls will be over the moon when they come home. Give him a big hug from me and Vegas!
I know what it's like for your pet to be missing as years ago Sascha went missing from 8 in the morning until 9 at night (long story but it involved a bread crate and a her getting a fright) & that was awful enough. Harry drove about 100 miles around our area & I drove about 50 miles & I went up & down the cycle track calling her name. You would never have thought that it would be difficult to spot a nearly all white dog in green agricultural land, but farmers seem to have all sorts of white plastic things in their fields that from a distance look like a dog!!
Hope that Smudge's been getting lovely things to eat & lots of cuddles.
Thanks everyone for your good wishes. Smudge is doing really well...he's done nothing but sleep!! He's had lots of treats and cuddles too.
He is understandably very nervous anytime the dogs are close to him..especially Jamie. In fact Jamie got a bop on the nose on Sunday night so he knows exactly where he stands!!! It's great to have him home and I promise I'll try not to be so stupid in future!
