Dear All,

I have just heard about a new film due out on d.v.d on 5th Dec. It is called 'The mighty Celt' and tells the story of a racing dog.

The trainer is played by Ken Stott and a young boy befriends this particular dog with Gillian Anderson as his mother and Robert Carlyle as her boyfriend.I have seen a trailer at some site called ultimate dvds under trailers. I can't direct you properly as I am now having trouble as Kev has saved it to favorites!

I love British films and this one looks billed to be like 'Kes' (if anyone is old enough to remember that!) I hope it has a happier ending though otherwise there will be tears here!

Uh oh - think I better buy a box of tissues for Fiona as she'll be greeting all night long - I hear this film is a real weepy. Wonder if any of the money raised buy the film goes to grey charity?

Teresa,

Hmmm GREAT even longer to wait - my other half asked in our local blockbuster when it was out, they told him 05-12-05. I just searched the web and got a date of 30-01-06.

Sorry folks seems I am a little premature! Em x

I don't actually know that I could bear to watch it. Since getting Harry and Pearly I've turned into a total mush-monster with anything to do with animal cruelty. If the greyhound in the film happens to you-know-what then I think it would traumatise me for weeks.

Fiona,

I sort of feel that way too. i mean I haven't heard of the film, but i just think these sort of films will probably be along the lines of glamourising racing and the dog it is about will probably end up being a great winner, but not getting over the bad points of racing.

Sorry, if I have got the story completely wrong and it turns out about saving the greys. And if anyone knows different and dont want to give the story away too much in the forum, send me a pm to let me know.

I've ordered a copy through Amazon.  Cost £11.50 available from the end of January 2006.

Stumbled upon another film set in Ireland about a bunch of men and a greyhound -    its a comedy  entitled 'Man about Dog'.  It includes hare coursing!   Couldn't find any trailers for it - just reviews
