I thought I had problems getting my gang to go out for a walk in the rain, but that was nothing in comparison to this cold weather.
Mac gets a few yards down the road, about turns, and does his version of 'Riverdance' all the way back to the house!
Presley on the other hand doesnt seem to notice the cold at all, and although my garden is totally enclosed I like to keep the door open so that I can still keep an eye on him, but not tonight, I just decided to watch him from the window!
The only one who seems to have got it right, is Denzel the cat, he is safely tucked up on my bed, sleeping the winter blues away!
When its just for a quick wee in the garden, I usually just have to open the door and Zada and Saska are right there wanting to go out, now I open the door i have to call on them , when they walk slowly to the door look at me as if to say 'yeah sure! you know how cold it is out there???' so I then have to walk into the garden to get them to follow me, the only good thing is they do their wees very quickly and we all come running back in.
my 2 arent fond of the garden for the final wee of the night either...
but out on walks in the ice/snow is a different matter. When wrapped up in his cosy winter jacket, Murf loves nothing more than to find a nice bit of icey grass (or even better, snow) & wallows in it like a hippo in mud! First its a good hearty chi/head rub in the ice, then his front legs buckle so he can rub his whole head/chest in the ice.
In deep snow, he lies flat & has a good roll!
Has no-one told him he has no body fat??????
Maisie just looks at him with sheer bewilderment...as do I.

Vegas loves this kind of weather and he doesn't mind the cold at all! Must be something to do with his bearded collie genes from his Dad. Wallowing about in snow comes second only to the extreme pleasure of lolling about in mud!
The boys don't really react to the cold at all but Eilidh is very funny. Sometimes when she's walking along she starts to hoppity skip as if her feet are cold then she looks back to see what did it.
Other times, if the puddles are icy, she'll bouce on them like the polar bears do then she'll pick up little bits of ice and start crunching on them. She's some gal.
gotta say our mob love the cold weather, they go out into the garden a bit less but when they do they seem to have a bit of extra energy for that mad nash around the garden and we do have a couple that like to do the face rubbing in the snow thing.
Fav sport when there is snow is teasing Rebel, he's mad for tennis balls and spends most of the time chasing them round the garden, well come the snow I often replace tennis balls for snow balls, 2 years on and his face is still a picture as he catches a mouth full of cold snow..
My two always run down the garden like rockets and jump up the first gate in the back garden (just to check for intruders at the bike shed, or so I like to think but probably really they are looking for cats!) They have a good look round then find a wee spot go and run straight back to the door. Until the weather got cold (yes it's cold here too at the moment, but probably not as cold as up there) they would leisurely wander round for ages before coming in.
My three don't seem bothered by the cold - it's rain that Suzie can't stand! As Dave says - at the moment they seem even more up for a mad dash around the garden, and Sim has made himself comfy at the base of a tree several times - just as Suzanne describes!
None of them seem to notice the thick frosticles under their toes.
my taylor is not keen on the cold she no sooner in she pulls u to get home she`s gotta be coxed onto the grass for her widdles n poops.but i feel i have to put the 2 coats on her coz if im chittering with the cold was she gonna be like, her burberry style autum rain coat with her new one over the top even my hubby who was dead against him walking the dog with her flamingo pink winter coat has decided it has to be worn,he he he
Sunny dosnt seem to mind the cold either. But what is it about the frost that turns her into a Bloodhound Our walks are getting longer because she spends so much time snuffling about in the frosty grass.
And spare a thought for those of us who dont have a garden and have to bare the cold doing the last pee of the night walk. Just trying to build myself up to it now.
I never though I'd be seen dead in a wooly hat but me and Steve now have matching ones!!
Steve has put his foot down about us getting a pink coat for sunny though. I suppose its asking to much. Spoil sport
