Cleo is at the vets this evening getting a nasty triangular cut on her rear left leg stiched. Vet felt it was better to carry out the operation this evening rather than wait till tomorrow. Late shift for vet mmmmm
Am not sure what happened we dont think it look like a bite. But there must have been a game as my small work bench had been tipped over. It probably caught Cleo's leg as it fell.
Typical hound - they always seem to injure themselves in difficult spots on their legs -- visions of dressings and bandages
Picked Cleo up at 7.20pm Bit unsteady on her legs but fine.
She has 9 stiches and I'm £125 lighter.
And someone has been chewing today!!!!! corner out of my IKEA leather easy chair and a corner out of a bolster cushion thats another £140 ponds to replace those 2 items.
Hope Cleo's leg heals quickly and that she doesn't need too many bandage/dressing changes! It's just typical that when you're attention has been diverted, someone else has had a good chew on your furniture. Big sympathies, Charles - and a big hug to Cleo!
Cleo has had her wound and stiches checked at the vet. The skin seems to be knitting together ok so all being well the stiches will come out next week. The skin is a wee bit raw in places but is ok.
It is very difficult to take off zinc plaster ( the pink material suff) Cleos skin is so fine that if I were to try and rip it off the skin would rip in a new location. Last night it took ages to get the last bit of plaster off. Cleo was squealing as I tried to seperate skin/ hair from the plaster
I now use a dressing which is self adhesive - a flexi type bandage and micro pore surgical tape to keep the bandage in place. The tape is quite fine and sticks less well than the zinc plaster but there is less chance of skin damage.
It's great Cleo's healing well and her stitches will come out next week. I'll keep your self-adhesive dressing in mind for any injuries! Ouch! Poor wee Cleo - the pink material plasters are murder to come off humans, never mind dogs with hairy legs!
