PERSONAL AVATARS - THE FINAL WORD
Permalink Closed

Right Folks, this is the final word on personal avatars on this forum.

You have 2 options if you want one, either email a picture to me and glenda to sort out OR do it yourself.

NOTE: THE ONLY WAY AVAILABLE FOR ME AND GLENDA TO FIX PEOPLES AVATARS IS FIX THE IMAGES THEN ADD THEM TO THE CENTRAL LIBRARY OF IMAGES ON HERE. THIS MEANS THE IMAGES BECOME AVAILABLE FOR ANY NEW USERS TO USE AS THEIR OWN AVATARS, THERE'S NO WAY WE CAN STOP THIS HAPPENING, EVEN THOUGH WE PUT THEM IN THE PERSONAL FOLDER THEY ARE AVAILABLE FOR OTHER FOLK TO USE. WE CAN'T POLICE THIS. IF YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY SUPPLIED AN AVATAR PICTURE AND THIS HAS BEEN ADDED TO THE PERSONAL FOLDERS AND YOU WANT IT REMOVED PLEASE LET ME KNOW.

Right, I'm not too sure what the problem is with most people but I'll try to explain easily how to do this, I THINK the main issue is resizing the images, Avatars on this forum can only be a maximum of 100 x 100 big. Below is instructions on how to resize an image using Paintshop Pro, if you are having difficulty resizing an image I can happily do this for someone and send it back all ready to be used.

Open Paintshop Pro

Open your image

From the menus select 'Image'

Select 'Resize'

Ensure 'Lock Ratio Aspect' is ticked

Using the tab buttons resize the image to 100 x 100

From the menus select 'File'

Select 'Save As'

and save the image somewhere on your PC.

Your image is now good to go...

Once you have your resized image (either done by yourself or me!!) you can easily add it as your Avatar -

Log onto this forum

Click your name on the top right where it says 'Logged in as'

Click where it says 'Edit Profile Click Here'

Page down to Avatar Settings

In Avatar Type select 'Upload from your computer' from the drop down box

A new button will appear 'Upload a local image' - press this button

a new box will appear

click the 'Browse' button

select the image you want to use for your Avatar

Click 'Upload Image'

JOB DONE

There's a number of other ways to set up Avatars but I figured this is the easiest....
