Right, we all love the skinny dugs to bits, just wondered IF you were all to get another dog and it wasn't a skinny what breed would it be? (NOTE: Don't worry, this isn't a loaded question, GAL haven't suddenly been inundated with collies!!)
I personally love Borzoi's (OK this is cheating a bit cos they are technically part of the sighthound family therefore could probably be classed as 'skinnies')....
...er, Pharoah Hounds look pretty cool, and Basenjis (I quite like the idea of a dog that doesn't bark...) but I've no idea what they are like to live with...Still kinda skinny tho, eh? But not as much of a cop-out as a Borzoi!
Generally I prefer cross breeds to pure show breeds (apart from anything else "mongrel" is a brilliant word if you have an Australian accent.... as in "rack off, ya mongrel!") so first choice would have to be a Cat 'n' Dog Home special that looks like a collision between two different species, preferably with wonky ears...
Going to completely the other end of the spectrum in both looks and size I have always had a penchant for the french bulldog. You either love them or hate them but I've always thought they were pretty cute. However, why go for one of the many other pedigree breeds out there when you can give all your love to a rescued retired racer.
do you know what! ...all other dogs suck now IMO .....the world seems full of obese labradors & fat weimaraners, or its nicotine stained westies and scanky little unbrushed yorkies....
give me a skinny malinky any day! My next pet will be a corn snake. Dont need much walking....Id like a pale yellow or bright pink one.

Our last dog was a wee collie/lab cross from Edinburgh Cat & Dog Home. We had her for thirteen years and she was just the best natured girl that you could wish for.
Alongside Sophie our greyhoud we have an old collie/alsation cross - the devil incarnate with other boy dogs (and the postie), but the soppiest beastie with all of us.
I've never had a greyhound before now and I have to say they are the sweetest dogs! I had no idea how lazy they are, always thought they would run a person ragged. Anyway, if I had to get another type of dog it would be a Patterdale Terrier. We had one years ago and she was beautiful, so easy to train and small enough to lie comfortably on your bed at night!
As well as fostering for GAL i also help GSD`s ! - They are truly lovely, completely different from GH`s but amazing all the same. I`d dearly love a Saluki, but if i could never have a hound again - i`d go for a Shepherd!
Like Denise, I'm a sucker for big boys! But I wouldn't go for a pedigree unless it was a rescue dog. So, a Great Dane crossed with Wolfhound/Deerhound would be my ideal! I also like GSDs for their intelligence, Salukis for their grace and elegance and spaniels for their soulful eyes! Mix 'em altogether and I'd have an enormous, clever and graceful dog with eyes you could drown in!
I'd go for that scruffy wee mutt in the kennels who no one wanted cos he barked too much or hid in the corner...........! Just look at the eyes, if I didnt have a GH I would def go for a mongrel! Cos like GH's there are far too many mongrels in the world.
Dawn, Mac, Presley, Denzel and the little one xxxxxx
There's a big pack of Rhodesian Ridgeback owners in Gullane and when they get together and let their dogs run it's like a pack of Lions - reckon they are the most majestic of dogs - but not as handsome as Harry.
Since I was a child I have always wanted a German Shorthaired Pointer, I still think they are lovely to look at but would never get one. When I was looking at what breed of dog to get I first looked at Deerhound and that's sort of how I got onto Greyhounds. I would love a deerhound, but would only take a rescue one, so it might never happen. I was never really into Salukis until I got my gorgeous boy casper...so now I just love salukis too!!

Thanks for the forewarning Steve - Maisie is petrified of Ridgebacks as every single one we have met of late charges after her - I wouldnt fancy having 40kgs of solid dog looming down on me - never mind having it attached at the end of my lead!
