Hi

I would try colloidal silver for the sores. It is totally natural and apparently works wonders. I think there was a previous post somewhere here about it but I couldn't find it. If you google colloidal silver it will bring up loads of info.

What a shame for him. I'm sure now he has a soft bed it will ease it a lot. Try to move his position if he lies down for long periods as for humans staying in one position too long makes pressure sores worse.

Let us know his progress.

Hi Shelley,

You mention the pressure sores as worse than you expected, I would advise you to take Deano to a vet, just to make sure none have become infected (as they can become easily infected if not treated properly). Also because they can be extremely difficult to heal if they are not treated right.

Hi we had a pony (bare with me) with a condition called Sweetitch which causes them to rub and rub until they rub themselves raw. We tryed every product on the market and everything recommended by the vet then a friend suggested SUDOCREM (most people use it as nappy cream) I checked with my vet and he said it was fine for animals. It cleared that ponys sores up and ended years of pain. I have used it on sores and cuts on Sunny. Its antiseptic and only costs a few pounds from the chemist. You could give it a try but do a small patch test first just to check it agrees with Dino.

Sudocrem is amazing stuff and helps with lots of skin things on humans..sure it would help with dogs too.

My vet told me that a little bit of Savlon doesn't do the dogs any harm either, but again, just test a wee bit first. You can also get Savlon spray,w hich my mum has used on her dogs and it works a treat.

If in doubt though, as Siouxsie says, always take your dog to a vet.
