Ok, you may be thinking that I'm being slightly premature here but we really need a good name for our sanctuary: something that will stick in people's minds.
So, here's your chance to get your tuppence-worth in. Take your time please and have a good think about what would be a good name. You never know, your suggestion might just become the name of Scotland's first greyhound sanctuary....talk about leaving a legacy!
Try not to be flippant because we all know that is my job. Serious suggestions if you please.
This I can see is going to be a hard one, and there are some great ones listed above, but the one that stands out the most so far to me is 'McLeod Sanctuary' (well thought of Dawn!) Call me sentimental, but I like to think the name should be related to GAL's history. After all Mcleod is used as GAL's logo.
I like Greysland very much but if you run a Google search it is listed several times. The McLeod Sanctuary is a lovely name and when people ask "why McLeod' we have an inspirational story to tell about GAL and its beginnings.
I though of including Mcleods name as well, like Dawn and thought maybe Mcleods Memorial Greyhound Sanctuary. Or incorperating the GAL name I thought -GAL's Hound Haven.
How about, The Scottish Greyound Rescue Centre. Where Are We - Scotland. What do we do - Rescue Greyhounds. Regards,
I'm with mclarchitects on this one. Some of the other suggestions have been brilliant and touching, but "The Scottish Greyhound Rescue Centre" tells it exactly like it is. It might not be fancy but it's effective.
Another vote for the Scottish Greyhound Rescue Center or Sanctuary. Or even the name of the area it will be built in e.g Glasgow Greyhound Rescue center tells you where it is and what it is in one line.

I have to agree that the Scottish Greyhound Rescue centre, does exactly what is says on the tin...
no one would find you on a google search/in the phone book if under another suggestion...
Other lovely sentiments ie remembering Macleod could be incorporated into the centre in other ways - such as Macleods memorial garden - a lovely wee garden that folk can sit in - benches, flowers etc & a plaque of memories for all those dogs loved & lost....people can equally sponsor kennels (not just the bricks) & have that named after their hounds, or even a wing of the centre named after them is they are feeling that generous etc....people could also buy benches for the grounds with a plaque on it, or buy a tree to plant etc - there are loads of ways to do it, but I think the name should be concise & to the point (& as Alan says - 'official' sounding)
